I really struggle with taking a day off from the gym as I only get my work week to be able to rely on getting that time in. But, here I sit again faced with "should I?" or "shouldn't I?". If I do [go to the gym], when will I get this other errand run? If I don't [go to the gym], will I make up for the no workout somehow?

I know I'm the last person to offer exercise advice but if you're doing it out of worry and not out of joy.. well.. what's the point?

I love my workouts. That's why I hate taking the day off. But I know I'll enjoy the workout more if I get these other errands off my mind. So, I'm inclined to say I'll take my usual lunch hour workout off today and get these errands run so that I can enjoy my workouts for the rest of the week.

Wll I don't know if I would put working out and joy in the same sentence, but it does become a habit and when you don't get to do it, you can feel like something is off. It also helps relieve stress. I understand the feelings. Base it on how you are feeling and how important the errand is. It's okay to take a day off once and while to get other things done. You can also shorten your workout if you need to.

I'm with Suzi, can you just shorten it? Maybe bust a bit more tomorrow?? That's what I tend to do when I'm running late in the AM....

There errand isn't important...just time consuming (I have to run 2 through two cities) and can only be run during what I'd call 'bankers' hours. Which means, if I don't do it on my lunch hour (my routine workout time), it won't get done...ever. So, bite the bullet and get it out of the way and get back to routine again tomorrow.

You should schedule easy days and recovery days as part of your workout schudle. Can you walk to do your errands on an easy day or recovery day?

I do have a problem recognizing 'recovery' days...even though I know they are important.
