Ms Elizabeth's Journal, 10 April 2014

I'm going to try something insane over the next 5 days. I'm going to stop eating sugar, candy, cookies, cake, donuts.. and well anything else that falls into that category. Hormones, cravings, and restricting sugar??? I should probably apologize to my family in advance for the chaos that is about to begin.

I'm not 100% positive but I'm beginning to suspect that my craving for candy bars and ice cream is not all pregnancy related. The giant fruit bowls.. that could be pregnancy. The king size twix bar??? Probably not. Maybe giving myself a chance to get some of this sugar out of my system will give me a chance to regain a teeny tiny bit of my control. Maybe... I'm not guaranteeing anything.

Today I need to get my butt back into the gym. I've been slacking this week between doctors appointments and running errands to get things for a last second 4th grade complex machine project that is apparently going to throw a tennis ball. I'm not so sure... I think I have a better chance quitting sugar for 5 days. That's why I've been drafting my own 4th grade project and buying extra supplies for Sunday night at 10pm when we discover the thing doesn't work. Everything can be fixed with super glue, pvc pipe, and golf balls right??? Maybe.. Again. I'm not guaranteeing anything.

Otherwise.. life is good. I'm crossing my fingers for great weekend weather so I can start yard work and hoping I have the energy to get things done. I forgot how much energy it takes to tie your shoes when you can't see your feet anymore! As an added bonus.. for those of you who have seen the Kitten rants... She moved back to Mississippi finally. Since it's a far cry from NY I'm sighing in relief. I wish her all the happiness.. in Mississippi. Far away from me and my family. The little man on the way is healthy and perfect and apparently strong... Long legs, big feet, and what looked like biceps. This might explain why he is already kicking me in the ribs.. or maybe he's just defending himself against his big brother who still wants to wrestle and sees mommies belly as a launching pad. The farm got more land to rent... life.. is good. :)

Good luck with the sugar! You're strong you can do it. I hate those school projects. My daughter is always good about telling us about them early so we have time to plan, my son, not so much, so it's always last minute that we have to get everything done. I hope it works! Glad you are finally free of Kitten! Life should be good, at least until the sugar cravings kick in. :)

So here's what happens when you don't follow up on all the 'comments' after journals are posted ~ I went from '2hrs to knowing' to 'little man'.... Congratulations on your Peanut!! And congrats on Kitten relocating South and far away from NY. Sugar... tough addiction but I know how very strong you are and that if anyone can beat it you can!

I find that if I can ignore my sugar cravings for 5-7 days, they go away.

I am sticking to 1500 calories a day and eating a lot better. Sugar cravings go away when you eat healthy.

Sugar - one day at a time! And I'm with Bella...I guess I was waiting for a sex I.D. journal. I was thinking about you and wondering just this morning before I left the house. Congratulations!

Awesome journal. So glad for you that life is good!!! By the way, what are scooby-doo snacks? Do they go on your oatmeal? :P

I gave up processed sugar back in January (after way, really weigh, too much of it through the holidays & realizing I'm addicted). It was really hard at the beginning, and I still have my moments, but the cravings have gone for the most part, as well as my mood swings & night sweats -- I'm in a very different stage of life! Focusing instead on all the good things I can eat has really helped me. Good luck! xoxox
