Annabelle3117's Journal, 01 April 2014

Good Morning! Yesterday was a beautiful sunshine filled day, and I tried to take full advantage of it. After dropping my son off at school my daughter an I went through all of the clothes, spring cleaning style, and I got rid of all of my fat clothes. All that's left are size fourteen jeans, and well fitted tops. I guess I am finally accepting my new self in all of it's permanence. So long size 24 jeans, and XXL shirts.

Speaking of accepting one’s self, my future SIL went to try on wedding dresses over the weekend. On Christmas she told me she wouldn’t even look at dresses until she lost at least forty pounds, well that never happened. After trying on some dresses she boldly posted on FB that she’s now in starvation mode until Nov. 1st, which is the wedding date. It shouldn’t, but this frustrates me to no end. We are not close, not in any way shape or form. Honestly she probably wishes me all kinds of terrible things, most certainly weight gain after the success I’ve had. It’s just that every time she decides she wants to lose weight she decides she isn’t eating anymore…. which I could understand if she had at least been successful at it one time, but she has never successfully lost a pound in all the years I’ve known her….

Anywho, since it was so beautiful yesterday I decided to take my daughter out for jog/walk instead of hitting the gym. She talked a big game about how much better of a runner she is than me, until she ended up twenty feet behind me. The girl could be in better shape lol. I’m working on it though. We completed 4.4 miles, and the terrain is full of hills so it was a good challenge. This was my first time running publically outdoors, and it was surprisingly easy. Running wasn’t easy, but previously I would have been too insecure to try. I could use some britches that will stay up though, I keep running right out of mine!

Contemplated going to the gym today, but I think I’ll stay in and do some of the bodyweight and dumbbell exercises I have been eyeballing. I am trying to keep the carbs relatively low, as I’ve had quite a few consecutive higher carb days. I also think I’m going to try to make dinner my smaller meal of the day, or at least a no carb meal. I’m just experimenting of course. I believe Bruce said it best, my body is my lab. Evenings used to be my downfall, not so much anymore. Wondering if I cut the carbs in the evening and go to bed slightly hungry if that would make a difference. Hmm, it’s been so long since I’ve been hungry. Doesn’t that sound odd coming from a girl whose lost 95lbs, lol. Nobody ever believes me. It’s obvious that I’m hoarding a secret miracle drug, there’s no way I can eat every day and have lost that much weight!!! 

Have a wonderful day everyone!!

Isn't it fun when you do something and find how easy it was?! When the time comes, you'll have no problem running that 5k!! Kudos to you!!!

Oh that's where the sunshine went! I'm glad you got out and enjoyed it and took your daughter with you. My kids run at school so they don't want to go with me, but maybe when they get new bikes they'll at least ride along with me. :) I have a SIL that is getting weight loss surgery in the near future and it kills me because she used to be smaller than me and I know if she would eat right and exercise she could lose. They don't have the money to spend on surgery and I'm just afraid she's going to get back to her old eating habits and hurt herself more than help. But, what can you do, she's an adult and has to figure this stuff out for herself. Darn relatives! Good luck low carbing at dinner!! Experimentation is what makes this journey more fun and keeps us going, so experiment away!

Yolanda I am so happy that your daughter 1. wanted to challenge you and 2. actually did run with you. I think with the weather getting better you both can actually make it a momma daughter activity. Also wondering if you've ever said to your sister in law that she doesn't have to starve to lose weight. That she might have to cut down to one serving of whatever she is eating, drink lots of water and maybe walk around her neighborhood every day. Just saying. Anyway enjoy your day my friend, I hope today is as beautiful as yesterday was.

Great post, Yo!!! WTG on that run. As an aside, I completely mis-read that word "britches" at first. Carries a totally different meaning the way I'd first read it. LOL! Best wishes, and keep smiling!!! :D

Yup - a year ago when people would ask me 'how' and I knew they only wanted a 'magic bullet' I'd answer 'Kale, lots and lots of Kale'. Shoulda bought stock. Not that she'd listen but hook your FSIL up on my journal or at least bio and tell her to take it from me - starvation mode doesn't work. If it did, I'd have gotten it right the first four times around.

Excellent on getting rid of your big clothes. I won't allow myself the luxury of knowing I've got larger sized clothes "in the event"... I got rid of my things last week and now have an empty closet. Need to get to Good Will to get some summer clothes.
