I have hit a wall. I'm not sure if I am coming down sick or am just feeling fatigued, but I find myself very disappointed this week with running. Last night I set out to do an 8 mile run. The temp had dropped from 70 degrees on Tuesday down to 30 on Wednesday. That isn't an excuse. Most of my runs have been completed in 20-30 degree weather. I made it two miles last night. And really I walked or old-folks-home-shuffled the last 3/4 of the 2nd mile. Nothing was particularly painful. I'm not out of breath or dealing with a racing heart. I just felt like I could have fallen asleep in the middle of the street. My calories are up. Weight is stable. I'm consuming between 64 and 98 ounces of water daily. And yet, I feel so fatigued that I couldn't find the energy to put my left foot in front of my right, rinse and repeat.
Doctors appointment today to check into my hair loss. I think I might tell her about the constant cold chills and depleted energy too. I hate to complain. I don't want any magic pill. But, perhaps I am missing a necessary vitamin that I can get through eating more of a certain food.
As most of you know, the last place in the world I would ever want to be is in a doctor's office. I get that is pretty ironic since I am married to a nurse. As I went to bed promptly at 9pm last night, I gave my husband the list of complaints. His first impression was hypothyroidism, untreated. Too easy. I've already been diagnosed with that and DUH...I self-discontinued synthroid. His secondary diagnosis: 31 miles ran in the past week. Eh...he may be on to something. Maybe more women run marathons with hair weaves than I suspected...Good to know I won't be a loner. Let's hope I don't drop a weave at mile 19.

Hey, 2MC. Sorry you're feeling a bit down about things. Can't blame you. I know there was something about hypothyroidism and hair loss... my aunt was going through that while they were adjusting her synthroid. It may be related. BEST WISHES! I hope everything works out ok.

Google natural remedies for hypothy. My last test was high and I did everything I found info on. I was eating a ton of cruciferous veggies and I found they elevate levels. Stopped before most recent test and I am within range.

WOW - have you had your thyroid checked recently? Sounds a little like hypothyroid symptoms - it's a simple blood draw so ask your doctor to check it! Just an idea...
|
Opsss - missed that you already have it - why not take the synthroid - it really helps, It i snot magic pill - but you lack the necessary balance. It works great for me..Just saying...
|
Thyroid - get the complete panel tested, TSH T3 and T4. Not just T3 You shouldn't stop taking the meds for thyroid. This will mess with the chemical balance in your body - resulting in hair loss, fatigue, mood swings, just feeling lethargic and more emotional then usual. The levels will change with exercise and diet. BTW I'm envious of 31 miles in 1 week. Holy Cow!!

Think that you sound overtired at least, possibly exhausted, and you need to stop beating yourself up, have some protein to help your body heal, and rest a wee bit!!
