Evie1010's Journal, 14 January 2011

Happy Friday! Jim and I had a fun date-night last night. We drove to a city about an hour away and went to a popular dollar theater where we saw two movies back to back. We had so much fun together; oh, I am so crazy about that man! He is the most loving, considerate, attentive man on the planet. He is such an encourager and tells me I am beautiful all the time. He shows such tenderness and care, always - I am truly fortunate and blessed beyond what I deserve to share my life with him.

WL is slow this week - and I learned that the sweetner I use is mylitol (I think) and it is a sugar alcohol, which really tends to cause me to stall. I regret that so much because it was the best artificial sweetner I have ever used. While my marvelous soup kicked me into gear, the ole' sugar alcohol said, "Uh uh; I don't think so." So I am stuck once again. I am going to wait it out, remain focused. At least I now know the culprit - and will not use it in baking/cooking, just everso sparingly when I drink a cup of green tea, or something. Oh well... Wish I had more perky news to share with you, journal... but it is what it is. But its all worth it when you learn something and discover a way to improve yourself, your situation or circumstances. It's all good! A set-back is a set-up for a come-back.

That's great that you know exactly what an ingredient does with your body. And it's so funny how food does different things to different people! About the man in your life- I feel the same way, and I truly feel so sad for people who miss out on having REAL love in their lives. I thank God for my husband- he's definitely my rock and never fails to compliment me and show affection. Yay for knowing we have two of the 'good ones'!

Sonya (love your username, btw), Leanne and Keli, thanks for stopping by. You are very kind. I'm so hopeful and relieved to have more knowledge in regards to what's going on with my WL. This website is such a blessing to me - YOU girls are a tremendous support. Sonya, you are right that so many women have to settle for so much less; how blessed we truly are. Jim even tells me how pretty I am when I'm in sweats, no makeup, and a bed-head...and he sincerely means it. Leanne, he also never leaves the toilet seat up...ever. LOL Keli, thanks again for the website link you posted on ASM because that is where I got to read more about the sweetner issue. You are a gem! Love to you all. Honk Honk!

Evie, sounds like you had an awesome time out woith your hubby. My hubby is the same way and I am soooo blessed to have him by my side, and for the fact that even after nearly 30 years, he still makes my heart go thumpity, thump!! Great detective work with the sweetner!

Great detective work Evie! You found the culprit! He is now arrested and can't hurt you anymore. I'm glad to have my husband too. He tells me all the time that I'm beautiful. Isn't God good to give us one of the good ones. Have a great weekend. Love and hugs Sis{{{}}}

Stef and Cindy, it seems like I'm having to do a lot of detective work here recently, huh? LOL Ya gotta do what ya gotta do. You know, Stef, I saw a pic you posted of both you and hubby - the love and adoration for YOU was so evident in his expression. True devotion. Cindy and Stef, it is a rarity these days, isn't it? One of my single friends commented recently, upon appreciatingly observing how Jim treats me -"There are no sensitive guys out there anymore. All the 'good ones' are either married, dead, or gay." LOL But you know what, I'll bet we three wives are pretty incredible catches, too - and that men would marvel at how wonderfully we treat our spouses just as ladies marvel at how our hubbies cherish us.

Jim sounds amazing! God blessed me with a man that is so patient and kind, and likes me how I am (more than I like myself!). We are such a blessed bunch! Good work on picking out the sweetener. Those kind send me to the loo anyway so I tend to steer clear. I have found the SF Torani syrups are fine for me which is a relief!

Squiggs, thanks for sharing. I wonder - is the Torani syrup a sugar alcohol based sweetner? I've honestly never heard of it. And I think I read yesterday that some of the syrup sweetners have lots of sugar alcohols. I'd love to learn more if you are willing to share some more info on it. Blessings on you and your darling LOVE! Patience and kindness are traits that are truly lacking in society today. How fortunate you are to have both packaged so nicely in one great guy!

Evie, I have done plenty of detective work in the last year...believe me! As for Dan, he does adore me and I adore him...he, my sons, daughter, and family (both blood and spiritual), are the best earthly gifts that God ever gave me. I am truly blessed beyond words. As for the good men, you would be surprised...when I look at my church family, there are so many awesome men there, men that treat their wives like the jewels that they are. My pastor's mom and dad met when she was in 8th grade, and she knew then that she would marry him, and her sister knew that she would marry his brother...amazing isn't it, that when it is the person that God intended for us to be with, nothing, and I mean nothing, will keep it from happening. It may be a long and winding road to that end, but it eventually happens in just God's way.

Evie, I can check the Torani syrups label, I use them from time to time in my coffee and on the Carbmaster Vanilla yogurt. It is very good.

Evie they are made with Splenda (sucralose).

Stef, so true! Love it - thanks for sharing! And it is so good to reflect on the fact that the word of God has a lot to say how husbands are supposed to treat wives...vice versa. Some people falsely claim that the Bible is "out-dated" or "irrelevant" - of course, this is said by folks who really don't have a deep understanding of its content, even though they may have read some of it. The Word of God, which we cherish, has so much truth about the family, honor and issues of life. Plus, the discernment which we gain from it further assists us when we encounter that special someone. We just know - this is the one. That is a great confidence to have!

Stef, Squiggs, where can I get some? Stef, what is your favorite type of sweetner to use?
14 Jan 11 by member: Evie1010
Stef what are your fav flavours? I love vanilla but not the caramel so much - it is strong!
14 Jan 11 by member: squigglywiggly
They have flavors? Wow! What have I been missing, people?!
14 Jan 11 by member: Evie1010
hahaha we have really opened up a can of worms now huh? They are so expensive for me here as they are imported, and hard to get hold of, but so worth it. They have so many flavours I can't list them! *drools* Saying that, we can only get a few flavours here but as long as I have my vanilla I am happy!

<< hands Squiggs a napkin >> That's so coolio! I'll have to look into it. What do you like to use in baking/cooking, Squiggs? I take it you use your vanila T syrup for coffee, primarily?
