Annabelle3117's Journal, 27 December 2013

Can't help but feel like I'm failing miserably. I know that I'm not, but I feel like I am. I did great yesterday until I got home from work. I planned on a nice 6in veggie sub for dinner... what I didnt plan for was the handful of sugar cookies, a popcorn ball, then the other 6in of my sub that I was supposed to have today. I don't understand myself sometimes. Now today I was already considering throwing in the towel before I started. To counter those outlandish thoughts I put all of the cookies, candies and junk lying around my clients house in a bag and put it up. Out of sight, out of mind... I hope! I have some solid options for breakfast and lunch but nothing for dinner. The holidays and the long work days haven't given me an opportunity to grocery shop and its a lot harder without a solid plan. I think I can, I think I can.

I think my struggle has to do with my trying to lower the carbs. Prior to thanksgiving I always concentrated on a balanced diet with lots of whole grain carbs, fruits/veg/lean protein etc. However so many people are talking about cutting carbs upping protein that my inner sheep was like yeah lets do what they do.(I've always hated that sheep) Last night while lying in bed feeling like a loser I realized that I don't know why I'm changing my eating plan when I lost seventy-five pounds doing it my way. So today I'm going to be myself, and lead instead of following. I hope that tonight I will be in a much better place than last night. (No disrespect to the low carbers, we all find a plan that works for us.)

Im going to do my best today to stop being so crazy about all of this. We really do this to ourselves. No reason to make it so damn complicated.

So ready for the new year!!!

I can relate. I've changed up my diet many times. And the excuse was that I wasn't happy only losing 1lb/week. Then it got to the point I'd plateau and not lose for weeks. Guess we need to take the approach of "why change what works for us".

Just keep doing what works for you! I also cannot do the carb free way...it will not keep me happy. I need some comfort foods to not throw in the towel. For me those foods are carbs. 40 some pounds off does not mean it doesn't work. I may have to change that if I plateau, but until then I will keep doing what I have been doing!

I agree, do what works best for you. You have lost doing things your way, so just keep doing what you're doing. Things will start slowing down and you'll be able to get some groceries and you can get your eating back to normal, don't stress about it too much. You are going to do even better in the new year!!

You just do what you have been doing Yo!! I do the low carb thing, but with my own personal twist. I don't eliminate them altogether. I replaced the refined white flour products with whole grain and multigrain. I limit my pasta, and I no longer eat potatoes with every meal. This works for me. It just might not work for you or someone else!! I still eat what I want, just in moderation!! No more 1/2 of a large pizza, lol!! I'm up a little today, but that is to be expected, with the Christmas visiting and the chocolates I got from the mom in law...lol!! I just couldn't pass them up!!!

Do what works for you - absolutely. I've been trying the low carb thing only because I seem to have stalled a bit on the loss and thought changing it up might be a good idea. In 2005 I lost 100 pounds by exercising and being moderate in my eating - period - and it worked. Whatever works for you is the way you should go. Keep it up - you've got this thing aced!!!

You are so right Yolanda, please stick with the plan you can live with as it is how you are going to have to do it even when you are in maintenance. You know I've been also battling my carb loving side especially since I went to the trouble of making some wonderful homemade dinner rolls and there is a reason I go to all that trouble...I love them. Today is a new day so I will do my very best to keep myself in control. I am confident in you to make the choices that are best for you. Have a great day :)

Hey, WTG, Yolanda!!! I think you are 100% right. If there were a cookie-cutter plan that worked for everyone, I don't think there would be a website for us. Everyone would just use "the plan", whatever it is. Any method that you've lost 75 pounds on and have had continued success with (and weren't stressed by) definitely sounds like what you need. :D You're going to kick it!
