OK. Stress levels just went up another notch. I thought it was pretty bad when my food stamps got cut last month to $80. I thought that was the cut they have been talking about on the news the last few weeks. Well, it wasn't . . . not even close. I will be getting $15 a month starting this month. I was waiting until Nov 11th to go shopping (the day my stamps come in). I'm not sure what I'm going to do. These are across the board cuts. There are going to be a lot of really hungry people out there. :-/

815 a mo. No idea how you can make it on that. With your health issues you are one that needs the food stamps at a reasonable amt. . I lived in small towns for 20+ years. Love them but it does limit your choices on somethings.

This is most worrying to me to hear this. I am worried about you and your health. Worried about when the time comes and I have to try to live off my paltry Social Security. The government wants to cut into the Social Security even more. Senior citizens should unite and have a protest on the White House Lawn.... in warmer weather, of course. LOL!

Was thinking about you yesterday and trying to make it on your budget.. Makes appreciate what i have. I stopped at an oriental and also a mexican market on my way home from work. Spent $14 and some change can't imagine squeezing a budget as tight as yours unless you have an extensive garden and that takes$$ to plant. Bought coffee for the mo. 3.49. A few veggies, fresh made corn tortillas enough for a couple months (i'll freeze them) they make their own and are really good and 2# of beans one fava and one pinto and 2# of boneless pork (1.29 a #). I'm planning on making tamales this weekend and pozole so 1# of pork will go in ea. lots of meals from that 2#. We are doing extra hrs every day at work so this will give me more healthy meals that i can just heat up. Like the ot in the budget. Means i 'll be able to do grand kids christmas gifts out of the extra

Did you see the NYTimes article yesterday? It's called "Cut in Food Stamps Forces Hard Choices on Poor"? You can find it on the web.

I am so tired of the so called "Christians" in congress and their holier than thou attitudes about the poor! Really, really...my hubby gets 1034 a month because he is blind. I don't and never will get anything, as I stayed home and raised my children and took care of my hubby, rather than working and paying into SS. I have no insurance, since I have a pre-existing condition, and every time we get a president who wants to help us, the idiots in congress block him! It makes me want to drag their asses to my house and let them see what the real consequences of their actions are!! We don't qualify for any assistance for food...why we have 2 cars (one 20 years old and one 13), a house (yeah we can borrow money for food against our home, and if we can't pay it back, we can live on the streets). It just really ticks me off!!! And then we have to deal with those who think we want a free ride...believe me if I wanted a free ride, I'd ask for more than a little help with the freakin' groceries! Love you, Bonnie!
