kmunson's Journal, 26 July 2013

really disappointed...went shopping last night with my hubby. I have been in the plus sizes for years(at the upper end)and still am. Not all stores carry clothes that fit me. I thought I needed something new to wear to a family reunion Saturday (hubby's side of the family so wanted him to be proud). Looked all over and could not find anything that made me look fantastic. I have lost weight...but still have bumps and bulges that the styles today will not cover. I guess I should use this as incentive to keep going...but all I feel is awful. Now I have to still find something in the closet and have to go eat a potluck lunch tomorrow that I hate going to because I am such a picky eater and now I have to also find things that won't upset my goals.

I understand. Even though I've lost weight I still have the bulges here and there that make me look awful. Bought this sexy dress hoping to wear it this summer. Don't think it's going to happen. Have a good time at the reunion anyway! Stay the course!

I just bought watermelon, cantelope, green grapes, red grapes, pineapple, cherries, strawberries, raspberries and pink lady apples to wash, cut up and take to the reunion along with angel food cupcakes (made with sugar free strawberry flavor jello) that I will make tonight. They all go to the reunion with me. That should be enough to keep me on track. If nothing else I will eat all fruit tomorrow. Also taking a gallon of water along too to drink.

Life is just a challenge for us. i have let my clothes run down cause I can't find anything. However I do like the JMS jeans at Walmart cause they are made for bigger women. My grandson is getting married this weekend and is having a western theme wedding and so i was able to find me a pair of jeans. Will upload a pic later.

Well the temps dropped here in Minnesota. The highs Saturday are now supposed to be between 65-70 degrees. That means that I can put on a sweatshirt and hide some of the fat! Have to love layering for the temps that also hide some lumps and bumps! Guess my hubby won't be wearing the shorts and short sleeve shirt he was planning on. It is supposed to be close to 49 degrees when we wake up in the morning.

I love sweatshirt weather for that reason :)I grew up in Northern Minnesota (Iron Range) what part are you from?

I live about 40 miles west of Minneapolis/St. Paul, about 40 miles south of St. Cloud, 40 miles east of Willmar and 40 miles north of Mankato. Between the towns of Dassel and Cokato. Spent the day today going up to Little Falls and then north of Brainerd to Pine River. Just Chillin...you were in a beautiful area of the state. I love it up there...wish there were jobs up there.

Wow K! I have always wanted to visit that part of the country. I'm a big LHOP fan and would love to see that area!

I know I love it. Every time I go visit I wish I could stay, but it's really not the same place anymore...beautiful still, but sadly the jobs aren't there.

Ok Becky...my ignorance is showing...what is LHOP?

Becky...if you want to come visit we will have to get together. My house is full of kids right now...maybe they will eventually move on...but for now they are here. Every season has it's own beauty here in Minnesota. Spring is everything reborn and green, Summer is lush and warm (normally), Fall is gorgeous with the changing leaves and the harvest of all the crops and Winter...just snow and ice...gorgeous. We work hard to survive the winters and then play all summer in and on all the lakes.

Sounds wonderful K! I am originally from Indiana, land of miles and miles of cornfields and big skies (since it's so flat)! LHOP is Little House on the Prairie. The area you live in is where most of the stories are set, Mankato, etc.

Laura's family would have been actually a little further south and west from me. We are not in the rolling river valley like they would have been. We are more lakes and a few shallow rivers. I am in farm country with a few rolling hills that are surrounding lakes. Minnesota is so varied that we have taken our children to trips around the state so they can see how varied things are. From the shores of the biggest great lake, to the north flowing river, the metropolitan cities with the Mall of America, to the beginning of the mighty Mississippi, the iron range, to the river bluffs along the Wisconsin edge, farms abounding, the buffalo ridge and the ten thousand + lakes ending with the crown jewel of the unspoiled national border with Canada called the boundary waters. When you come to Minnesota allow time to explore all that we have...it is probably something that would take multiple trips as it has us even living in the state. If you like check out the Laura Ingalls Wilder pagent that they have I believe in Walnut Grove, MN. That should give you an idea of what it would have been like "back in the day".

Wow! That all sound so exciting! You certainly are blessed!

I really am! I love living in Minnesota! I really don't have an urge to go anywhere else because I like it so much where I am. My sister was showing me pictures of a trip that they took out to Wyoming and the states between that and Minnesota. It was very pretty scenery and I think Mountains are beautiful...but right now I like home. What is the saying "there is no place like home!"

You will get there :-) Sometimes I get disappointed, and my husband will be like "but you lost x pounds"... I just thought it would look different I guess lol. But you're right, we keep on moving forward. Our time is coming. I'm dying to get out of the plus sizes!

Thanks Yolanda...I really want to be out of the plus sizes. I want this to go faster...but yet know it is better if it is slower.
