Is it wrong to have fun with your neighbors? This weekend is our community picnic. Yes.. we have a community picnic. All 15 of us. lol This is what happens when you live in the country. Anyways.... It's a bring a dish to pass event. The last couple years I've brough desserts but everyone brings a dessert. Anyone have any suggestions?

I found a recipe for Potato salad with bacon and apples. Sounds yummy! Err.. at least interesting. Ok maybe that's just my strange opinion. It's got vinegar and mustard but no mayo so technically I don't have to worry about killing anyone if it sits out for a lil bit. I want to make it. But... with a population of 15 someone is bound to find out it was me that made it. It's got a high rating on simplyrecipes. Hmmmm.. Is it wrong to experiment on neighbors? They all know I can't cook. Although.. the upside down apple pie was liked.. by the two guys that polished it off in the first 30 minutes.

Ok its bacon, onion, apples, potatoes, green onion, olive oil, red wine vinegar, dijon mustard, thyme, and pepper. Hmmmm.. Well I know I'm not knocked up so lord only knows why but this doesn't sound like a bad combo to me. Maybe it's all the exercising. I have been starving all day long. At this point I don't think much would sound bad. Exercise + recipe googling = wtf am I doing? Ooooh look potato salad with bacon and apples! Yum.

For some reason the apple strikes me as odd but the rest sounds fantastic. I'm going to have to try that some time - great, have something new to avoid.

Go have fun with your neighbors! Work hard, play hard, right? Some other easy options are salsa and chips or maybe a 3 bean salad. I'm sure your neighbors will enjoy anything you bring.

I think this is just what you need. If you don't have fun at least it will give you more fodder for your journals!

go for it....it will work!!!! if you got some pickled onion, chop them up very finely & add them to the mix. You need to boil the tatties the day before & marinate them in the vinegar overnight. The apple needs to be chopped small too but it will give it a little crunch & fresh taste :)

I think it sounds good, but I love potato salad. If you decide you don't want to cook, go the healthy route and bring a fruit salad (you can even put crystal light on top to make it more yummy) or a veggie tray, if they all know you can't cook then it won't surprise them if you don't. My brother just made potatoes for us that he had cut up with onion, put a 1/2 stick of light butter on top, sprinkled with sesasoning, covered with foil, and baked for about an hour maybe. They probably weren't the healthiest, but they were yummy.
