Ms Elizabeth's Journal, 19 February 2013

I'm continuing my selfish streak and I'm refusing to feel guilty about it. I bought a kitchen scale today. I'm trying to evaluate what I'm eating, why can't I get past 150, why can't one atkins bar be enough? I think part of the problem is my portions are probably too big. This is especially true when it comes to things like steak. So now I can start to weigh things. That is.. if I can keep it in the kitchen. Hubby was commenting a few months ago that his scale for the barn was broken. I have to keep the kiddos from it too.... The 8 yr old has a scale obsession at the grocery store. I can only imagine what having one available at the house will do. Lord only knows what she will weigh. But it's MINE. MINE MINE MINE. I'm beginning to like this new selfish streak.

I noticed that I eat alot more than I thought when I logged food on fat secret and jillian michaels. Pork Loin is either 250 calories or under 200 calories. It depends on who you ask. Next time I will remember to ask the package before I throw it out. That is..if I really ate 4 ounces. Maybe I ate 6 or 8. Next thing you know I'll be whipping out the measureing cups instead of eyeballing it! Let the madness begin.

I used to weigh and measure everything, still do when I need to get back on the wagon like now. The difference in the pork is if you trim ALL the fat or not. Just what I found out. I eat ALOT of pork tenderloin.

I measure all of mine. I was under estimating how much I was eating for a long time. It made a huge difference in my food portions!

I'm still measuring and weighing food - but I test my eyeball skill a lot and am getting better. Some day I wont need the measures.

I measure some things like pasta and cereal as I tend to really overestimate those. I did just buy a small scale to weigh meat because I know my portions are way off simply becasue I am a meat lover!

Very nice. What kind did you get? I have a new eatSmart and I love it. Your 8 year old has n obsession with scales? Kids are hilarious. Enjoy yours.
