BuffyBear's Journal, 14 January 2013

We had a fantastic weekend with fantastic weather! But, as for food consumption, a few little indiscretions added up quickly. And here I am trying to stay on this strict induction diet until Wednesday. Well, I've got 2 more days - had better make the most of them.

DH is impressing me taking care of his blood pressure. Although not on low carb, he switched to whole wheat bread, gave up potato chips, etc. and lost 6 pounds in 1 week! At this rate he'll be off his blood pressure meds before I am into my size 10 jeans.

Glad you enjoyed your weekend & good luck with these 2 more days! Don't sweat the small stuff (those little indiscretions) as it sounds like you're right back on track. I'm so glad your DH is doing well! Have a great day, my friend!

good to hear you had a good weekend Buffy, yes make the most of the last 2 days and finish strong. 6 pounds in a week - why do men lose so much quicker- doesn't seem fair does it? well at least since he is doing so well making good choices he will probably be helping you avoid bad ones. Have a good Monday.

Ruth - I do feel like I'm back on track but don't think my weigh in tomorrow will agree. Maybe I'll just "forget" to weigh in?

Newmooney - It is just not fair how quickly they can lose weight. And you are right, I do feel an added sense of responsibility to keep super healthy foods in the house.

Hey Buffy..I don't know why men can lose faster unless they have more muscle..but thats a given unless us girls do body building..You can do it girl..you only have 2 more days...:O)

Buffy - At our age, for me at least, forgetting things is the norm:)! xoxox

Buffy - great that you had such a nice weekend with wonderful weather. Wish I could be there. It is just gray and nasty up here. /// As for the challenge, it soon will be over and you can change your plan. I guess you agree it was good for a new start. I can say that at least for myself./// As for DH, isn't it just great that he made some changes? And since he sees results at least with the weight right now, hopefully he will stick with it. Of course it makes your choices a lot easier if there is nothing challenging around.

Jozette - Oh I wish you'd been here too - we could have met in the park in Lexington! But cooler and rainy here today so just stay where you are. You are right - I needed the Challenge to detox from the holidays. Starting Wednesday morning I am going back to the old plan - 1350 cals/day and eating low carb but not counting the carbs. This way I can teach myself to have small portions of good foods (sweet potato, nuts, berries, etc.). BTW - The key words here are "small portions" - LOL.

Buffy - I hear you about small portions. It is one of my downfalls as well and that's why I count calories besides the carbs :-)

Sounds like you did have a great weekend and we ALL have our food indiscretions at times -- you just have to pick up and keep going. I am so impressed with you embarking on a strict induction and dealing with your hubby's BP at the same time. BTW, great for him and isn't it just disgusting how quickly guys can lose weight?!!

Gigi - To be honest, sometimes I don't handle stress all that well. And I'm with you on the guy's weight - just not fair!

Men!!! Weightloss seems to come quuite easily to them, which makes them wonder why we have such a hard time....that said bravo to your DH....My DH is muscular too and weight falls off whenever he wants it too....I'll make him try to get in a size 10 jeans then see how he feels.....lol! I'll be over the moon to get into and stay in a size 12 (UK)....I WILL be there by the summer! Weigh in tomorrow whatever happens, you could always delay recording it until you have a small loss, it's not cheating, just being creative with the truth...lol

Definitely crazy how quickly some guys can lose weight!! Good for him for sticking with it - you can keep each other accountable!

DiHappy - Thank you for understanding. BTW - My chart could use a little "creativity" - LOL.

Erika - Great concept to remember - "Joint accountability".
