crabby Kat's Journal, 02 November 2012

I just had a blast watching Beau try to get that darn squirrel by digging his way through the sliding glass door to the deck. He's sitting vigil even as I type. We had two squirrels competing today for the old slivered almonds I put out, leaping from deck to tree and back.

I was upstairs reading earlier, and heard a loud thump against the glass downstairs & rushed down to make sure everything was OK. Beau was going nuts, wanting to get out and give those squirrels a good chase.

I tried video-taping it, but wasn't used to the video option on my phone and didn't catch it; I so wanted to show it to my partner!

He was sitting there with his tail whipping back and forth, slinking along under the part where the drape was partially covering the door. Then he got all excited & stood up against the glass, and started digging at it. He would lay down and look up, trying to figure away around that barrier. Then he's stand up again, fully outstretched (and he's a long cat!) and dig dig dig at the glass. He worked his way over to the corner, thinking maybe he could get around that way.

He finally gave up, ran over to the window to watch the other squirrel in the cedar tree. Back and forth. He even keeps watch at night, though my partner told him that squirrels go to bed at night, too, lol.

He's napping now, but stretched out by the deck so he can catch any movement. I took a look at the videos I DO have on my phone, some that I took when we first adopted Beau; he was such a cutey. Supposedly a year old, he still acted like a kitten, and was thin from his days living on the streets.

The spots on his back were more pronounced, and his flying leaps reminded me of the Bengals we'd had at the shelter, along with his reddish primordial pouch. Even as a straight brown tabby, he's my little wild(ish) animal with the heart of a Bengal (though no where near as well trained as Bodhi, of course :o).

I had a good time at Zumba again this morning, and plan on going tomorrow morning. That will make my 6th one-hour session this week. I wore my new Zumba bra today; now I understand why the instructors look well proportioned; the support in that bra makes ME look good, and my boobs lost a lot of weight too, lol.

I LOVE Beau! He is an Honorary Bengal! Yes, they chase the glass and vocalize loudly at birds, squirrels and chipmunks!
