BuffyBear's Journal, 13 October 2012

Cold weather has finally settled in so have spent the morning putting away the last of my summer clothes and sorting through my winter items. This has required a lot of trying on - with some good results and some not so good.

There has been a lot said on this site lately about patience so I'd like to thank you all for that reminder. I realize this morning that it has been 20 years since I met DH. BTW - I weighted 126 at the time! But my point is that it took me 20 years to get this big so I shouldn't expect it to all go away in 20 minutes!

So today - I am thankful for patience. I will be a size 10 again - just not today.

No worries - it is a lifestyle change not a diet, right? At least that is what I tell myself when I dream of banana splits or pizza, LOL. You will get there eventually and will maintain by making good choices 90% of the time.

HCB - That is my ultimate goal - the lifestyle change.

So true, I feel we are on the same page, I started doing low carb eating on July 29, I did not weight myself until August 1 because I did not want to know what an all inclusive vacation to Mexico and 15 graduation parties and a 40 person northern Michigan beach vacation did to the scale, since 8/1, I am down 17 pounds, no eating cheating but I have social activities once a week that include alcohol and I am 48 years old so I thinkt that is another slow down to my weight loss plus I work 12 hours a day during the week on the computer, I am not hungry and I am feeling better but I sure wish it would come off faster :) I would be happy with a size 12, keep up the good work!!

You said it... patience. I will add ... persistence. My DH and I were married 11 years ago and he has a new fat wife now. Not the slim one that met him at the airport. He is so supportive though. Bless him. I am proud of you. You will do it. You are just a breath away ... and time is on your side. Just take it easy and you will get there. Love ya.

Patience and persistence can be esp. difficult at this point of your journey....at least it was for me. I thought about beating my body (nutritionally-speaking) into dropping those last pounds, as I just wanted them GONE! But they WILL be gone if you just keep working what you know works for your own body. In its own time, the pounds WILL drop for you. BTW....wedding/meeting weight is over-rated...you may have weighed less than now, but I doubt you could have carried half a jackhammer 20 years ago!

I'm just happy I can bend over and polish my toenails and not have to reach around my tummy. Now that hard part... pink or coral colored polish? Seriously, though, your patience and perseverance WILL pay off. You are doubly blessed to have a loving family to support you through the years. On second thought, he's fortunate to have you as his DW!

Share Bare - sounds like you are doing fantastic - especially spending so much time in front of the computer. I've felt like telling my boss "this job is killing me - literally!" .

Mom - I do believe that time is on our side - and it's a damn good thing that it is - LOL.

Sandy - Good try to make me feel better - but 20 years ago I could have carried the whole jackhammer and probably run one as well!

Rockytu - I cannot even fathom 98 pounds! But you might just surprise yourself at how many pounds you can get rid of - those 14's are only the beginning.

Jenkie - Thanks! As for the toe polish, I know you are serious. I enjoy going shoe shopping so much better now. It used to be major work trying on pair of boots.

Tying my shoes was a real prob before... and not an especially a cinch to do now but I can bend over now at least. I envy anyone that can paint their toenails. :) Jenkie... I have fallen in love with coral. *Ha!*
