I am so confused. I stayed well with in my calories, walked almost everyday, went hiking and drank plenty of water everyday and thought I was doing awesome! Turns out I gained 3lbs instead. WTF? I went from sitting on my butt all day eating junk to watching my food intake eating healthy and exercising and I gained weight? This is ridiculous! I thought it was science...burn more than you take in and you WILL lose weight, obviously not.

Maybe you are holding onto some water or gaining some muscle. You could also try lowering your calories some, or adding more fruits and vegetables. Don't give up! We all have times where we gain or plateau.

Thanks alliecat, it is nice to have some encouragment. I think I may be eating too much sodium, but still, it seems crazy that I gained. I could almost understand not losing, but gaining? However, you might be right about water weight. I never drank water before, and now I have been dringking like 2.5 liters a day. Between that and the high sodium, it is possible. I will have to work on it and be patient. Thanks again.

No problem. We all need encouragement! I have found that sometimes if I've stopped losing if I have a splurge day but don't get carried away it kick starts me losing again. I'm not really sure why, but it helps sometimes. You might try watching your sodium, though. That can make a huge difference with water weight.

I have been eating better and working out alot, and my weight loss chart looks like a roadkilled snake...FLAT, lol! Some days that is a real discouragement, but in my heart I know that I am improving my health and strength, so that I can hopefully be around longer for the people I care about. Sometimes it takes awhile to figure out what your body needs. Don't loose heart! =) A lot of us are in the same boat.

I KNOW EXACTLY how you feel ... I never exercised never drank water I drank about 7 cups of coffee per day and never ate breakfast.... Now I do proteins and water (okay i cheated the last 4 days) but still ... if I dont gain the weight stands still.... Strongs girl - its a long and very difficult road
