I've realized I can do this. No matter how hard it is or how long it takes, I will lose 86 pounds. It's slow, and it's hard, but I'm building a stronger, healthier me in the process. How can that be a bad thing?

I'm a wife, step-mother to two boys, and mom to two cats and two parakeets and grandmother to a bunny rabbit. I turned 30 in December and realized there is no better time than now to turn my life around. I started my weight loss adventure in May 2012 after taking a good long look at myself in the mirror without clothes on and without trying to suck anything in. Talk about an "ah ha" moment! I've always wanted to get down to 130. This time, I will. No turning back and no giving up!

What is a good time to run 5 km in?
My first (and only, to date) 5K I ran in 44 minutes. My goal was under 45 and to do it without stopping, so I was happy. I think I would have been a little faster, but the course was SUPER hilly (for West TN), and it slowed me down a lot. I had never run with hills. 34 minutes is amazing! Keep up the hard work!

Body Fat
How does everyone measure body fat? I have done the little online calculator things, but I don't think they are very reliable. My gym doesn't have any equipment to measure body fat.

Light Headed on Leg Day
I am not doing low carb. I have protein and carb at almost every meal. Lots of frittatas with veggies, ezekiel bread, chicken, brown rice, almonds, etc. I have been doing advocare meal replacement shakes for breakfast, which is the only not clean food I have, other than the protein shakes I added this week due to the increased intensity of my workouts.

Light Headed on Leg Day
I don't rush through my exercises. When I watch the guys at the gym I'm always shocked how fast they go. I go slow and steady. The program I am doing just started incorporating active rests, so the other day I had to do single leg squats on the smith machine, 15 on each leg, then go straight to jump roping for 1 minute for 3 sets, or 15 leg presses then 15 squat jumps for active rest. I rest a few minutes between sets that don't have active rest, and for several minutes after sets with active rest (and sometimes during the set). I don't drink caffeine-only water for this girl. I go through a liter of water a workout. Thank you for the input, Erika! I appreciate it.
