strolling along without a care in sight...and BAM!! my husband offers to take me to the movies. this kind gesture would make most women smile, get dressed up...I mean who doesn't like dinner and a movie? My heart started racing at the thought of being within 100' of movie theater popcorn!! (we even have a long standing joke between us about my $10 popcorn...) I really thought - ok, Paula - get a grip...I mean honestly, are you never gonna go to a movie again in your life?

After a moment of thinking about it...I said, No...thanks honey - but NO! Too much invested to be tempted by something so insignificant.

We played cribbage on the back porch instead! :) (no popcorn in sight)

I don't go to the movies often, but lately there were 2 movies I wanted to see in 3D. I also am a movie theater popcorn junkie. I went prepared with celery stuffed with cream cheese and pork rinds. The only thing I bought from the concession stand was bottled water. I would have brought that also, but I felt I should at least buy one thing there since I brought my own snacks. I don't know if they would have stopped me from bringing them in, if they did I was prepared to say I am allergic to over the counter food, which in a way I am since I am an addict and it does effect me, isn't that what allergies do?

I went and saw Avatar in 3D...loved it. I also brought pork rinds and then a diet soda from the consession. I was fine with the pork rinds and after the movie started I didn't even miss the popcorn...and I am a movie popcorn junkie :)

I think my instincts are telling me something about my limitations...I literally don't want to take the risk. Can your body have an internal reaction to smells? Can you smell your way into an insulin response? Like being around chocolate, or a bakery...I honestly don't think I could say NO at the theater...so best to stay home - until I am confident I could make it through without faltering.

It probably has something to do with Pavlov's dog experiment and conditioned response! I'm with JMA and CC. I go with my GF to the chick flicks my husband doesn't want to see. I pack a bag (big purse) with pork rinds and water or get a diet drink there. Once you feel stronger, and more confident in being able to say NO, go for it, prepared!
