ElizabethBennet's Journal, 31 August 2012

So today is day 5 of induction and I think I am actually just now starting to know what to eat and what not to eat. I don't think I was doing it right the first few days. Like I was eating a few grapes and such. Anyway, I have at least stayed steady in my weight and I know what to do. I can't wait to be under 200 pounds!!!!

Good for you staying the course! And your food logging is going great! Just remember that Atkins is not a low-calorie diet/way of eating (WOE). You can always refer back to the book and/or the tutorials over on the Atkins site, as often as you need to, to get your meals properly balanced for the long term. You can do this!

Thanks Sandy!! It has been a little hard for me getting my mind around a diet with fat but I think I am finally getting the hang of it and I feel great!! The books definately help! and I think being able to log all your food (especially some of it before I have eaten it) has helped. FS has been a great tool and I am so excited for the first time like I am finally going to be able to lose this weight!!!

Well call the atkins police if you're sneaking a few grapes...lmao...I've been on the program since the 9th of July, and I'm down 26 lbs, and trust me, I've done just that...I pack my hubby's lunches for him, and if I feel like a grape, I eat one or 2 - that usually does it for me! or at dinner, if I get him a glass of milk, I'll sneak a swallow - I dearly love my milk, so I think that's really the hardest part for me...but the little "slips" now and again, I think that helps keep you sane...Good luck on your journey! You said I thought we could go to 25 carbs? No not on Induction...but I figure I can go to Phase 2 because I've been on induction for a month! That was my way of feeling better about going over 20! LOL I'm stayng on Induction cause I have a lot of weight to go!

Helen, sorry I was confused about that. I have been trying to use this week to get the hang of induction. It is strictly 15-20 net carbs right?? Anyhow, hopefully this next week I will do better.

If you go to the Atkins.com website, induction is 20-25 net carbs, so if you're only doing 15-20, you may not be getting enough...that website will tell you what your carbs/fat/protien ratio should be, also

Induction has always been 20 carbs, though. The people who now own the Atkins name (after the death of Dr. Atkins) give information that isn't necessarily in our best interest while on Induction. While some can successfully do Induction with their guidelines, the rules in the 2002 New Diet Revolution is considered the true Atkins diet. Personally, I ignore the website and go strictly by the book.
