I'm getting so frustrated. I have a bad, bad cycle starting to happen. I do great for a week, eat perfectly, exercise daily, and there is no weight change. I get frustrated and upset, have a few bad meals in a week because I figure it doesn't matter what I eat, I'm still plateauing. And then I get upset when I see the scale hasn't budged. Then I get motivated and do perfectly for a week, etc. It's a bad cycle. So what if I'm plateauing right before I hit my most imporatant milestone: getting into the 100's? I need to stick it out and not get frustrated. I need to mix up my exercises. I need to get more serious about not going out for a burrito if I had a bad day.

I'm finding out more and more every week how much of an emotional eater I am. Last week, had a very long and stressful day. To make myself feel better, had ice cream. Hubby had a terrible day at work with terrible customers, and to try to make him feel better, went out and had a crap dinner. I need to disconnect my emotions from food. Eating junky food isn't going to make life better. I don't need to have a bowl of popcorn if I'm watching a movie and I'm not really hungry; I just want something to munch on as I watch. It tastes good so temporarily, and then I feel guilty for hours.

I'm trying to remotivate myself. I'm so, so, so demotivated but so close to a huge goal.

One good thing, though.
I fit into an Old Navy size 14. I almost cried, I was so excited. I also went from a band size 38 bra to a band size 34. That makes me feel great. But I need to remember that I'm not quite finished yet. This is good and way better than I was before, but not where I need to finish.

Does anybody have any good ideas for getting remotivated?

I overcame some of that and then fell back. You can see the changes that I have made at http://www.johnsmind.com. I had to totally buy into the lifestyle change and I am now the healthiest that I have been in 15 years.

I do the same thing except I will also tell myself "well you already messed up so eat whatever today and then start over tomorrow" except I'll do this again and again and find myself so down and depressed. I think that beginning to reward yourself with things other than food for small accomplishments is a good place to start. We need to be happy for every little bit of progress even if it is a pound. I get discouraged when I see others have lost 10 pounds and I have only lost one, but even that one pound helps!! Just remember that everyday you wake up is a new day and we can do this!!!

May I make a friendy suggestion? Looking at your food diary shows consistently lower protein and higher net carbs. At this stag eof your loss process, you may do better with higher protein and lower net carbs. I shoot for under 100 net carbs per day and above 100 protien per day. You eat more calories than me, so you may go for 110 net carbs. Net carbs can be set on your food diary or calculate total carbs minus your fiber to net carbs. I beleive if you see the scale move a bit you will be re-motivated. Another way is to take tape measurements, or look for old photos and compare to current photos! Good luck - you will get there!

One thing that really helped me with the emotional eating issue was listening to a Cd called The Self Compassion Diet. It's a meditation Cd that has great stuff that helps you really think about what and why you're eating. I listened to it all the way through, then listened to short practices when I had time and /or really felt like I needed to change my perspective. Maybe that or something like it could be helpful in getting you away from that cycle. BTW, I don't even buy microwave popcorn anymore & it used to be a staple around here, lol.
