It's a common saying that muscle weighs more than fat. It doesn't. A pound is a pound. Muscle is more dense, thereby taking up less space than fat AND it's active tissue, meaning muscle will actually burn fat. Fat just sits there like an ugly blob, lol.

You do realize that when someone says something weighs more than something else, they're talking about density, right? Like gold weighs more than diamonds. They're not talking about a pound of gold and a pound of diamonds. They're talking about equal volumes. So...this is just sort of...

THANK YOU - it is my pet peeve when hear people say "muscle weights more than fat" Just a silly notion

Agreed HCB. In my experience, most people aren't referring to density when they make that statement.

I really don't think anyone is 'dense' enough to think that a pound of one thing weighs more than a pound of another.

I learn something everyday. Great comparison.

One should never assume that others understand density and volume, lol. I've encountered plenty who don't! 😁

So, not only will a muscular person be smaller than a fat-covered person at the same weight, the muscular person burns more calories even when they are not exercising. Great to know!

Yes, Abba, that's correct! That's why I don't do a lot of cardio, I focus more on weights.

Since I need therapeutic massage--I have to humble myself to let someone see my body. Well, this person who deals in fat and bodies told me that human fat is very fluffy, but when I started the KETO lifestyle that he could feel the difference in fat. It changes in ways I don't know how to describe. The weight might be the same but the style and placement of the fat has moved--so much so that I went down another size (and I am almost 68 years old and have health issues--no cardio for me) and the scale didn't move. I bought new jeans and two days later I was having problems keeping them up again. The scale had not dropped again. IDK if that makes sense but I know I am not building muscle like someone who exercises.

I think I know what you mean, Farm Gal 50. My friend's husband said his trainer told him there's a difference between firm fat and loose fat. The looser the fat, the more water has left those cells, and the easier it is to lose. ??? My stomach has been solidly firm fat for years, but in the past month it's become much more loose and flexible. Maybe there's something to this!

I agree!!!

SoCalPam--yes that would probably be a different way to explain what I was trying to say. I continue to drop inches but the scale doesn't always move. I am not concerned. haha -- something is working well. I am eating the healthy KETO way.
