Hello everyone. I have a question, when you start getting stomach sick from heavy food and junk food. What's your fix? Last night I went to a wedding, there was Mexican food and while I was used to refresh beans, there were these crunchy beef tacos and green chili chicken enchilada stuff. I had 2 small servings and then the cake was this cheesecake key lime pie style mix, plus a couple sips of alcohol I tried, but didn't like. I knew I would feel somewhat bloated from the carbonation of the coke, and watched some anime til it passed. At 2am I laid down not feel so good. Then by 3am I awoke wanting to throw up, and felt the taste. I had a few sips of cold water from in the fridge and laid back down. I'm better, but still have the sick feeling in the pit of my stomach. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Try having some good fiber meals, increase water intake, fruits/veggies may help to push along the rest of the food that’s still digesting and may help you feel better afterwards

Off to a good start then, put some strawberries in my oatmeal.

You say "felt the taste" after you laid down - sounds like acid reflux which happens when I eat food off my plan, Try taking a Zantac before bed if there is a next time.

The biggest problem is going to bed on a full stomach. You no longer have gravity on your side. That being said, should that situation arise again, don’t lay on your right side or God forbid, on your stomach. Sleep with your head elevated on a couple of pillows OR sleep on your side. The anatomical position of the stomache is not as conducive to reflex when you lay on your left side.

Insert word on my post above—- sleep on your left side not your right side. Sorry about that.

Oh I’m so sorry you’ve gotten sick. I’m not much of an expert of this problem but I had been waking myself up while vomiting on my pillow.
It was really bad so I finally went to a GI doc and they did a scope EGD (esophagogastointestinalduodenoscopy) and there was an issue and that’s how I got to this site and dieting.
I’m on Ranitidine now and doing my best to be off dairy. He said lose 25 lbs. Any rate that’s how I got here. The advice not to go to bed on a full tum is good advice.

Sorry you felt so bad. I have had problems with my stomach for more years than I care to remember, but not very often nowadays. When I get like that I drink home brewed ginger tea or a tea blend I picked up by a local gal called Tummy Calm. It has peppermint, chamomile, fennel, dandelion, raspberry leaf, and dill. All locally harvested. When I was sick with pneumonia a while back and couldn't keep anything down and had nausea, this is what I drank. Hope you feel better soon.

Rochelle— you did good. Now try ERCP. Glad there are abbreviations.

oh yes as Becc@ said, ginger & peppermint works super also! I drink peppermint tea during the day, wonderful! And sometimes make jasmine / ginger tea and have it chilled even when i don't have a tummy ache, yum & refreshing. :-)
