The SCALE! On and off the scale 3 times this morning trying to calculate the "correct weight" and finally remembered that my goal is to eat healthy, exercise habitually, and get on the scale every day in my pajamas, holding my coffee and maybe a bird and weigh under 130. I have a long way to go and keeping to the plan I have is more important than weighing in every day. Once a week I check my progress on the scale, but every day I check my progress through measuring and recording every thing I eat.
Food intake: for 34 years my macaw has weighed between 1000 and 1060 grams, weighed annually. How does he do it? He has a personal assistant, me, feeding him and making sure he gets exercise every day. I actually changed my diet a few years ago to be lower in fat because the fat isn't good for the birds and he eats what I eat. Been figuring and planning healthier meals for me for weight loss and for long-term health. Right now, I am calling it the Mediterranean diet and mostly sticking to that. I have made sure my pets eat right for over 30 years - I think I can do it for myself too. Really seeing results from eating right the past two weeks is motivation for sure!
Exercise: consistently doing over the recommended 150 minutes a week of cardio. Not as consistent with the weights, but sometimes I find myself carrying all the groceries at once or being fine with a lawnmower that isn't self propelled because I am stronger than I have been in a long time. One of my hobbies is moving furniture so I am building strength "at home" as well as in the gym.
Trying to make life more interesting food-wise too. Eating well can be delicious and a treat. Here is a pic of the almond flour donuts I made, they were tasty! Only 126 calories apiece, they are actually berry muffins that I baked in mini-bundt pans.
Happy Thursday!
