Sandy701's Journal, 10 May 2012

Walked 3.6 miles yesterday and 3.1 miles today; doggies along for 1.5 miles each day.

I made the "mistake" of trying Reese's s/f peanut butter cups over the weekend and they are way, way, WAY too good! Set me up for sugar cravings big time and my calories paid the price. Tried to get rid of the cravings with other foods....just too much of it. Just what I need....yet another trigger food - LOL!

Well, everything's calmed down again so it's onward from here.

In the past couple days, I've been shopping for food to donate to the local pantry because our church has designated this month as the month we're going to try to help the facility restock. Of course, as I was delivering my donation, it was in the midst of a huge downpour! I would have picked another time, but the stuff was in the car already and I was going to have to park near the thrift store for a few hours, so did not want to have anything visible in the car. Not a knock on the area around the thrift store....just don't like to have anything visible in the car no matter WHERE I park! Well, I got everything delivered and didn't get too terribly wet.

Then it was off to the thrift store where I also made a donation prior to working there for the afternoon...yet a few more things to clear out of my closet. I'm finding it takes awhile to clear out 20+ years of clothing! What a pack-rat I am.

After all that, I REALLY got drenched taking our neighbor's dog back to his home. He had gotten loose and decided to take refuge from the rain in our garage! We didn't want to keep him in the garage and I couldn't get him shoo-ed out of the garage to close the garage doors(smart dog....why go outside the garage where it's raining?). We do not know these neighbors down the way, so we couldn't call them to come get the dog, but I know this dog and where he lives. So, I found a smallish leash and got him taken back to his home, both of us getting really, really wet, even though I wore a raincoat that seems to be made for monsoons! My upper body stayed dry but my rain boots got so full of water, I had to wring out my socks when I got home. Thankfully, at least it wasn't a cold rain - LOL! Plus....I got my flowers planted yesterday morning, BEFORE all this rain! Yay!!!

Bren, if everything could have just waited until today, it's bright sunshine, no chance of rain, and a bit cooler as well, although still in the 70's. With the sun out like this, things should dry up nicely even though we got a HUGE amount of rainfall.

Sandy I love reading your posts! They usually make me smile. Your every day activities take on a life of their own. The weather in NH has been horrible; we have seen the sun twice in 10 days, and it has rained more than half of the other days. Take care...

What perfect timing - getting your flowers in before Mother Nature watered them for you! And what a busy beaver you are. Hope your neighbors appreciated you taking such good care of their dog.

GG...Luckily, the dog had been groomed recently and so had a nice short cut on most of his body. Still....he definitely got another bath! And, as for me, well, once you start getting really wet, it almost doesn't make a difference anymore. Once I felt sloshing in my shoes (rubber rain shoes/boots), it can't get any worse, really.

Lisa, I would have thought you'd have brought back some sunny weather from Florida. Of course rain is good, but enough is enough, right? Hope you see the sun soon.

Buffy, I had hoped to get the flowers into the planters outside before the rain came through, although I didn't think we were going to get THAT much rain! One set of flowers had been waiting for me to plant them for several days and the others had also been waiting for a day or two. It doesn't take me all that long to do those planters....just gotta go DO it!
