madjak30's Journal, 17 January 2012

I didn't go over my RDI today...but I also didn't get up early this morning and do my exercises...I'll still ride the bike later...but I have two stumble days to make up for...

It's quite frustrating when you know what you should be doing to get to your goals, but you don't have the will power to get it done...atleast if I keep doing what I'm doing, minus the stumbles, I will continue losing weight...but I would like to tone up the muscles as well, and that will take more than just a food choice change...movement is required...

Later.

More muscle burns more fat, but don't beat up on yourself. I think you have done marvelously in the short amount of time you've been at this. It will all fall into place. Just keep going.

Take it one step at the time, Jack. Johanne is right. You're doing good, even with the stumbles. Take a look at your recent weigh-ins, they're all doing downwards. Maybe it's time to re-evaluate (read my latest journals, I just did the same thing), and re-group? It's easy to get stuck in a rut, and sometimes we need to re-asses if we ARE putting in the commitment that we think we are. The results can be quite surprising. Like you say, you know what you should be doing, you know what you're doing wrong. Try to find out WHY you're doing wrong instead of right. Then it all becomes easier.

I think part of the problem is not wanting to prepare two separate meals, but with three kids that won't even try the healthier choices that I need to make...so I'll have to come up with compromises...more planning...as for the exercise, I just need to push away from the computer and move!! But right now I need to move to my bedroom and get some sleep...start again tomorrow... Later.

It is tough when you have to make separate meals especially when there's usually looks better. My 5 yr old is very picky. It looks like we have some of the same problems. We try to do extra to make up for our bad days, but if we weren't having the bad days we would be doing great. Lets just try and make our bad days not as bad!

I was so tired of making multi meals for the house, I have 3 kids that are use to eating all my yummy unhealthy foods. I just cleared them out, got rid of all processed foods. I make my healthy meal with food I know they will eat, broccoli, carrots, corn and if they don't want to eat, they have to understand I am trying to make healthier choices for them to live a healthier life. It also helps if they get to help prepare the meal. I don't force them to eat something they don't like but try it before you say you don't like it. I also have the....This is dinner and this is all that I am cooking, rule. It has been almost 2 months of no processed food and they have really come around. My son who is 6 will say, we cant eat McDonald's, Wendy's, and taco bell because it is all unhealthy. They learn fast.

Yup Mouseopotomus (cool name by the way)...I think that is the way I'm gonna have to go, but getting my wifey to go along will be a chore...she is almost as picky as the kids...the youngest (twins) are okay with atleast trying foods, but my teen and wifey...not so much...but she says she sees the difference and wants to try as well, so there is hope...I'll have to sit down tonight and come up with healthier choices, then get everyone together and get their input as to what they think they might try... If I set out a weeks worth of menu, then maybe they will understand how hard it is to make dinner daily without having the same thing two or three times a week...I'd be fine with having the same thing everyday for a week, then try something new the next week...but it would get pretty boring for everyone else...so more effort is needed...much easier to have some easy meals like hot dogs with mac&cheese, hamburgers and fries, smokies & rice...to go with the Ham & potatoes with peas, or chicken breast with wild rice & corn...I'll still make rice for them, but I have salad instead of either the peas or the rice...ordering pizza and going out for fast food or even dining out are just too hard if you are trying to watch your caloric intake (it's a pain just figuring out how to enter them into FS, never mind trying to make a healthy choice) But I think you are right, I should just get everyone involved in the planning of the meals for each week...then go grocery shopping to only accomodate those meals and stick to it...but it does get hard when things start running late and you end up either eating very late, or ordering delivery/eating out...then it is a stumble...anyway, enough rambling...include the family in the planning is the way to get through this issue...thanks. Later.
