JoshFS's Journal, 10 June 2016

Hello Fatsecret community. Today I weighed in at 188.6. On May 18th I weighed in at 191.2. After that successful weigh in I carbed up starched up on that day in the form of noodles, rice, and ice cream, & gained about 5 pounds of water weight. Today is the second day in a row I have been able to eat starches and carbs, & still be able to maintain 188 pounds. I'd like to be 180 pounds by the forth of July. To reach 180 pounds I might just low carb it for the rest of the month. Well this is my new account as of June 1st. If you remember me from my previous account and you were my buddy don't hesitate to add me again. If you're a new FatSecret member & need a buddy, add me. If you've been on FatSecret for a while and want to help a guy out add me as a buddy. Buddies buddies buddies. It's not mandatory but it would be great. Well I look forward to weighing in again on May 20th. Hope you are all having a good week and good luck on you goals. Peace
188.6 lb Lost so far: 3.4 lb.    Still to go: 28.6 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

Great hearing from you, Josh! You will be fine there, as I decided I better not let things slip. You had a nice loss there, and are doing real well. Keep at it, my friend!

Josh, for a Carb Spike to be successful in helping you to lose weight, it is critical to be low carb consistently for several weeks prior, i.e., <30gms NET Carbs. After which you can do one afternoon and evening per week, gaining ~3lbs of water each time and losing it the following week when you're back on plan.

Thanks for the info Mahjohn. I am testing out the unroll.me link you sent for my old email account. I reopened it because I needed it for some logins for other websites. It installed itself as an app to my outlook, I was kind of concerned for a while there but read some good reviews about it. I read some people are having trouble deleting there unroll.me account, but I haven't tried to take it that far as I want to see how good unroll.me works for unsubscribing for my old email account. Thanks for your words.

@Josh: Checkout "LastPass" for managing passwords. Actual passwords are hashed and salted. I use it as a browser plug-in and as a phone app....tied to DuoMobile for two-factor authentication....so if anyone tried to logon to my lastpass account, I would have to authorize it from my phone (something you know....and something you have). With this, you can have your Facebook password by 64 characters, etc...there's no need to actually remember any passwords, except your LastPass Master password.

@Mahjohn +1 on the carb up. Most effective for me has been going lo fat on hi carb days and NOT going ad libitem on the carbs. Everybody's different, but I have broken a plateau with as little as 80 grams..

@Jimmie..agreed, it's basically the opposite on those spike days, and as you've discovered, it's about finding that balance on spike nights....how much is enough without being too much.

Mahjohn I found the unroll.me app, I have a desktop computer with windows 10. I had to log into my microsoft account. Then go to security and privacy, then apps & services, then manage permissions. There was the unroll.me app. Well at least I found it and have control over the app now.
