I have a question for all you IF or Fasting folks out there.

During your fast, are you supposedly a little hungry? Not at all? What do you feel during your fast?

Also do any women fast with success of fatloss??

I am asking because during my potato hack, I notice it was easier to fast during the morning. On my potato hack I am able to eat dinner around 8:00pm latest and not eat my next meal up to 10:00am the next day. Before my potato hack I would be pretty hungry by 7:30 am and I would eat before work. During this potato hack I cook my potatoes the night because and I notice I can hold off to eat until I get to work.

I get a very slight hunger signal here or there and it goes away. I don't feel any gnawing hunger during the morning fasting. Am I doing this right?

Today I started drinking coffee with a little coconut cream around 9:00 am,. Of course this has some calories. SO I guess my fast has ended?

Thanks in advance for any responses...

@Phil. Absolutely agree. To the best of my (limited) knowledge, fat = no insulin response. The better question would be why is Bulletproof Coffee > Black Coffee?

I'm not sure, Jimmie, I don't do BPC, I prefer my coffee plain black (and oh, boy, do I drink a lot of it).

@PG - If I recall correctly, Martin @ leangains has/had a female IFBB figure competitor as a client. Pics on site. She is no doubt "competition ready." 14%?? Whatever comps in a female to about 6-7% in a dude.

@Phil. Likewise. Got it.

If you keep the calories consumed during your fast period under ~50 calories your body won't fall out of the fasting state. Black coffee helps keep your mind off of food.

If you like the taste bulletproof coffee is very enjoyable and satisfying, especially whipped and emulsified. I could just eat a spoonful of coconut oil and be done with it but I enjoy it more in coffee with a little cream. Of course "official" bulletproof includes butter but I don't do LCHF so I normally forego that and get the butter I consume through cooking.

Female here, been doing 16:8 IF for a long time. I'm not a coffee drinker, so just have a spoonful of coconut oil in the morning (yeah, had to get used to that) and rarely feel hungry during fast. I eat from lunchtime (noon or 1-ish) until dinner (finish eating 7:30-8pm), then fast until lunch the next day. Works great for me.

Actually in theory the coconut oil does not in the past it just feeds the brain and really we are no longer to that stage where we come in calories because we all know by stepping on the scale but the thermal dynamics doesn't work it's not calories in calories burned

@jimmiepop I am going to take a look at that. Pretty cool to know he had a successful female client. Only thing is I probably wont have her training regimen. I would have to experiment with it to work for my needs and training regimen. I can only imagine she was in the gym a lot!

@PG - Leangains = LOW Volume. 3X/Week; 45-60 minutes. Strong return on time invested. The whole leangains deal is minimalist. 3-4 compound lifts (SQ/DL/PR/BN), lift heavy, low volume, eat, sleep, progressive overload. Love it for a cut...

I'm currently 2 weeks into the 5:2 diet and have lost about 4kgs. I used to be a rafting guide in Japan and undid the 5:2 diet to shift 10kgs , which I did in 11 weeks. I was able to pull myself into the boat finally...!! When I'm fasting I love to analyse my hunger feelings is quite fascinating to realise that it's only in your mind and as soon as you realise that the hunger usually dissipates quickly. I do agree with what people have said about sleeping, I didn't have any problems the last time I did it but this time round I'm suffering badly with sleep deprivation. I'm sure it will work itself out.

I am constantly hungry, usually more so in waves for IF. I fast 4 days a week 16 fasts and 8 hour eating window. I try to subside the cravings with water or green tea. It isn't easy but the end result will be so worth the struggle.

Ok guys, knuckles is back with more rain for the parade. I keep hearing people say that fat does not trigger an insulin response. This is simply not true and for a very simple reason.(With VERY few exceptions). The truth of it is, ANY TIME you eat something with more than ten calories you will have an insulin response. Certain SMELLS can trigger an insulin response. This has all been scientifically proven. I actually posted a link to a document yesterday where the people were talking about this exact subject. I have even tested it in myself. And you can too. All you need is a blood glucose meter. Test your BG. Drink your BP coffee, then test 30 minutes later and again 1 hour later. You will notice a dip in your blood sugar. This denotes a raise in insulin. Then the next day do the same thing with JUST coffee. You will not see the same results. Actually this article reinforces my findings. If I drink coffee on a fast, it is BLACK with no cream or sweeteners. And If I am NOT on fast or at the end of one, I will do bulletproof coffee. Still no sweeteners though. This does not mean it will trigger a LARGE insulin response. It will cause a response though. So your best bet if you want to remain fasted, don't have anything with more than 10 calories. And we all know a single TBSP of butter has over 100. Same for Coconut oil.(Which is one of the special exceptions.)Just something about that coconut oil.

Ohhh on a side note. Its not really the butter causing the insulin response. Its a reaction to digestion the causes the insulin response.

"Spike" would have been a more accurate term.

I think she said coconut cream not oil but any way I did the 17:8 and one 24 a week and I lost and kept it off. I miss that woe and will go back to it after this program where I eat every two hours. Ugh it's getting better but sometimes I just don't make it.
