AmberLaine's Journal, 14 October 2015

I've been on Slow Carb for a week and a half now, and am finding it pretty easy to adhere to. I am thinking I am ready to implement a light exercise program now.
My problem is that though it is best to exercise first thing in the morning, I often do not have the time. My children need to be changed/fed/cared for a lot first thing in the morning. On top of that on SCD I am supposed to eat within an hour of waking. So first thing in the morning doesn't really work for me. Mid-mornings my infant takes a nap, and when DD is not at school, she plays quietly or watches one of her programs, making it an ideal time to get some stretches or calisthenics in. However, by this time I am feeling full from breakfast and the idea of working out then makes me feel sick to my stomach.
The only other time I have is after they are in bed for the night, but often DH wants to spend time with me after he's been at work all day.
I'd appreciate any advice that will help me get a little workout in without making me sick, or taking me from my little ones when they need me. My infant son can be very high maintenance.
Thanks in advance for any tips!

I would try eating a lighter breakfast and workout in the mid mornings since it is the most idea time of day according to your journal entry. Once you finish the workout eat a bigger meal to refuel. If you eat too big of a meal it will make you sick if you try to workout. So try sticking to a lighter breakfast- workout mid morning and eat a bigger meal after

Hi, If you're first concern is a lack of time, maybe you can try tabata or HIIT exercices, with swing kettlebel for an exemple with a little material, or burpee with nothing than your own body. Both train endurance, and a descent power, with tabata is only 4mn, if you give all you have, studies say it's like a 20mn run. Another good exercice with it is rope jumping. Another good idea can be to do some squats/lunges/every exercices you want each time you pass a door, or near the TV. It's a good way to practice, cause you do each time a little, but at the end of the day you did more than if you spend half than an hour for exercices. I'm sorry, if what I said isn't clear, or if I havn't really understand your concern, I'm not a native speaker. Best regards.

There are several things you can do. When you sit, do a few squats right in your chair. When you do dishes, do a few leg stretches or squats (not deep ones. People our weight have to work into this slowly. You don't want to hurt your knees.) when you are sitting, do some arm circles or lift light weights. Canned food works when we are first starting out. When you first stand up, do a few stretches and waist twists. Every hour, walk once around the outside of your house if it's detached or down the driveway and back. You can do this when the children are sleeping as long as you can see the door. When you sit, fidget. Bounce your knees, rock do some leg lifts. It all adds up. :-)

So I took your advice Panigale, and I ate my usual beans then took the kiddos on a mile walk through the neighborhood, and ate eggs, bacon, and veg when I got home! I actually felt pretty good, definitely not too full. But I do have another question now. Since the beans have a fair amount of carbs, but I am trying to lose weight, should I have eaten the eggs and such first and the beans after? Does it not matter? Thanks in advance!
