Monthly Weigh-in.
Ouch. I know that some of this is muscle, but I also know that some of it is due to my very poor eating habits this last month. I have talked about it a few times just this week on my Instagram. It's a blend of laziness, stress, and depression. I have made bad choices and felt guilty while making them, but not guilty enough to not do it...
I have a few options here, all involve bringing my intake under control. One of my Marine brothers is in town and he said I should be bulking right now, and then in a few weeks start cutting (the fat). He also believes, just looking at me, that I haven't much fat left to begin with. I have heard of this concept for lifters, but honestly I need to do more research on it.
I also intend to make some new goals, because I find that once I attained my weightloss goal, I didn't know what I was fighting for anymore. I know I'm not satisfied. I have to remember that health and fitness is a journey, not a destination.

I think I can say that maintenance is going fabulously! I haven't weighed in since the end of March, so I had literally no clue what to expect. This month has been particularly stressful on me, and I have made a few slip-ups here and there (mostly the occasional piece of Easter candy - sometimes worse), so I was a little concerned about the effects of that. But I also have been doing P90X3 for the last 3 weeks, and half expected weight gain from that. I certainly feel ... firmer. I suppose it all evens itself out?

At the same time, I have felt pretty good, physically, for the last month and even had a pretty awesome NSV last night:

My last remaining pair of jeans shorts were a size 12, because that is what I was comfortably wearing the last warm season. But over the fall, winter, and spring I have reduced to an 8 in most cases. So last night I went to Walmart, and I saw some shorts in a style that I like, and grabbed an 8. My husband encouraged me to try them on, just in case. And I agreed, what if they were too snug? And they were too big. Like... way too big. As in, I could both my hands down the front and there was still room. Yeah, they have some stretch to them, but this was ridiculous. I could not believe what I was seeing. I left the dressing room and grabbed a size 6. And they fit. I didn't grab a picture, but I'll try to remember to the first time I wear them (maybe today?).

I am aware that just because I am a size 6 in this one pair of shorts by this one brand doesn't mean I am a size 6 across the board, but it still feels pretty good. It's not anything I even imagined myself doing... buying pants for myself in a 6. My lovely madrina, who is on a health and fitness journey herself, sent me a bunch of her size 8 pants several months back, and more than a few of those are now too large. I still remember my amazement at pulling on many of those for the first time. It's ... wild.

TL;DR - I didn't know what to expect on the scale today, for my monthly weigh-in, but I'm seeing the results of my hard work on the daily. May next month go as swimmingly.

So, the first 3 weeks of maintenance seem to have gone rather well.

The only problem is, I haven't made the shift yet. Not really, anyways.

I have continued to follow my lower calorie bracket for the duration of my current workout program, but I haven't been as strict on myself. So, loosely following that 80/20 lifestyle. [Note: I have not stopped having my cheat day - though I have made attempts at reducing how much I indulge in on such days.]

Spring break (10-18 March) was the worst bit - with everyone (husband is a teacher) home, Pi Day 🥧😛, friends in town, my son's birthday, and St. Paddy's Day festivities - it was difficult to remain on plan. As in, I allowed it to be so.

Over the next week I stuck to my plan, for the most part. I don't recall any major slip-ups. And this past week has been pretty okay. I went out for lunch with my mother and sister on Monday, where I had a burger wrapped in lettuce - so I could have a few french fries. Wednesday, I went out again with my mom and had a cobb salad, which contained too much protein (if that is even a thing, haha), and too much "healthy fat" (you choose between bleu cheese and avocado!) and even though I ordered it on the side, I probably used too much dressing. Add in one Palmer's chocolate after stuffing eggs for my kids' school egg hunts, and you have my week.

I am starting P90X3 - an intense resistance/lifting workout - next week (8 April). I will be upping my calories as necessary for maintenance/muscle building. I do not know when I shall weigh-in again - still haven't decided if I am doing it monthly or bi-monthly.

Lastly, attatched is a picture I took for #flexfriday yesterday. I have been kinda marveling at it for the last 24 hours. I cannot believe it is me.

I am absolutely astonished by this! I had just over 5 pounds left at last week's weigh-in, and even though my new WOE is working well, I was still figuring at least 2 weeks to lose it. On top of that, I had dropped to a lower food bracket, but found myself starving on two of the days and I "cheated" by going a bit beyond my container counts. After that I put the carb I removed from breakfast back in, and took it out of dinner, and I didn't have that starving feeling anymore - so the rest of the week was better. But still, almost 6 pounds? The human body amazes me.

I was not prepared to MEET MY GOAL this morning, and I am so unprepared to talk about it! Perhaps later I will compose a reflection on this journey and my plans for the next leg!
