9000+ steps per fit bit today. 15 minutes with the 10# kettle ball plus another several with the 5# on working my arms over my head. Took crazy pup for a walk, she get so excited if I pick up her leash.

Happy that with all the rain coming through in waves and the up and down barometer I have no pain in my ankles or knees. A bit stiff and I feel my knees more that usual doing squats but not bad at all.. 2 years ago I would have had my cane out, it's still hanging in it's spot in the bathroom, probably needs to be dusted LOL. What a difference 60 pounds and some exercise makes, along with limiting many inflammatory and processed foods.

Not much else accomplished besides toasting grains and seeds for insane parrot. Slowly getting a homemade mix developed that is healthy for him and that he likes instead of half tossed on the bottom of his cage.

LOL - re; crazy pup and insane parrot! You are doing so well - let the dust gather on the cane, it's a good sign!!!

I like it, I'm going to decorate it when I re-do my bathroom. It reminds me everyday not to go back to my old ways, I may slip a bit but not far. Also if I sprain my ankle it will be handy, my crutches are just outside my garage door on the wall, just in case, that's usually a couple times a year occurrence, grins.

I'll have to take a new one, he doesn't look too good right now just finished molting and still getting new feathers. I'll see if I can find a good one. He's a very pretty little green and teal Quaker, weighs about 7.5 oz. Ornery and talks a lot.

I find it difficult to get in 9000 steps daily. How do you manage to do it? Does your job require that you walk a lot?

not 9000 everyday! most days I do hit 7000. Then more on weekends. LOL! I sit all day at a desk in a cube. Luckily our floor is quite large so a trip to the break room for coffee or water and back is about 1/2 a city block. the bathroom is about half that distance. I try to make those trips about once an hour at least for refills on water. I try most days not to sit much once I get home. Most of the time I walk on a trampoline if I'm watching tv. if I'm not doing something in the kitchen (standing) or on the computer. Trampoline is not out right now with the re-do mess,

Nice! Good news about not needing the cane. That's what makes the effort worthwhile.

Pain is rare now, neededing extra support to get the body moving in the am is terrific, no limping every day. No knee replacement looming as it was 3 years ago is even better. All is good.

Wow - in spite of the rain you are pushing through! Hard to believe you once walked with a cane.

I still need my cane some days, especially when it's cold. I have neck and back damage as well as a congenital condition so I have back spasms. Thank goodness my knees are ok.

Warning I rambled on here, I get my soapbox now and then. That is just 60 pounds and exercise!! I'm at a great weight for me at my age height and build. I didn't have the journey many of my friends here are facing. I urge you to follow your plan 20 pounds or more an one hundred or more. do it you will feel so much better..........!!! It's dang hard work. It takes commitment and time lots of time, but do it. It is worth it. Believe me, for me it's a huge plus. My doc (same age as my oldest daughter) says I'm her poster child LOL! she asked if she could use me for an example for some of her other patients. She wishes everyone would follow my approach to getting healthier. WOW makes me feel good!! My HDL is now un-chartable by finger stick per my health ins co screening ( it's too high) my LDL isn't showing up due to the high hdl, as it's probably low. will find out what it really is when I get my annual physical. My blood glucose and sodium levels are low (she says eat more salt but wisely), sodium was too low in October, glucose is on the low edge of normal (ok with doc as I have type 1 and 2 diabetes in the family). Doc says watch it if I'm craving salt or sugar or get dizzy. If I get dizzy eat something with sugar, not fruit but sugar that will get into my blood stream asap, if I crave salt or salty/crunchy eat something salty. I probably need it. So funny my friend who is diabetic and is on low fiber due to diabetes complications keeps trying to get me to follow her diet. NO NO. I have diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, strokes, heart issues, and osteo in my family history. The osteo, yes it's there, as is degenerative arthritis, working on that to lessen the affects including meds because I'm on daily preventative steroids for asthma that can increase the deterioration. They keep me breathing and functioning. I've read the books and the studies on good bones with no meds...doc agrees with them except for I'm on daily steroids. I saw what steroid use did to my mother-in law's bones (one of the first people on long term steroid tx) so understand her concerns, MIL was not on meds to counteract that back then . you can look her up in very technical medical studies. Ok to clarify, ;))) no performance enhancing steroids to improve athletic performance-- steroids for other health issues.

Buffy, Msbugsgirl, no issues for me. Just a bit stiff and I can feel the weather changes in my knees and ankles, not pain really just a bit achey off an on. Not something to stop me like it used to. Buffy, many days I hobbled around with my cane or crutches as my left leg would not work right, that's why my doc referred me to an ortho as she was afraid it meant a replacement that was predicted would have to be done by 1996. I've beat the odds- Course I beat them to start with 5% chance of walking after surgery. I'm great!! Big ole steel rod through my knee does have an affect-I can't crawl or kneel it stabs me. Can live with that.
