I always visit the grocery store very early in the morning before they open their deli. After 10AM the aroma of all the cooked fried foods grab you as you enter the store and seem to tempt you to buy foods you don't need. I Think they always put the deli right there as you walk in. The marketing techniques the grocery stores are very powerful. Just have to be smarter than them.

This morning I took a LEFT TURN on the frozen dessert isle, something I haven't done in a long time. I stood there staring at the "Haagen Daz" Rum Raisin Ice Cream which was one of my all time favorites. I hear this voice from behind me... "Don't even think about it". I new it was Alice, the assistant manager who has commented many times on my weight loss over last few months.

Well, I thought about it. And then i said in my Ralph Kramden Voice..."One of these days Alice, one of these days"

One of these days when I reach my goal weight I will buy 2 pints of Haagen Daz Rum Raisin Ice Cream. After I eat it I will either log onto FS and comment on I screwed up, or I will go walk 6 miles and redeem myself. Or Both.

My store does the same thing. Kind of hard to walk past them. Just smelling it is a trigger for me. My store has two entrances. One goes to the bakery the other to produce. I use the produce door.

The Food Marketing techniques of today are very extreme. I do internet marketing (photography/photo editing) and have been to many seminars on marketing. Ever notice in the grocery stores how they put certain items at the eye level for children/toddlers in the shopping cart. But now it has become much more dynamic. Just watch the T.V. commercials and nothing is stagnate. Food will be flying in the air on many fast food commercials. There are no overweight people in the fast food commercials so if you eat there you will be in great shape too.

Now, I'll have to watch the commercials to see the skinny people trying to get us fat.
