RoseFlorida's Journal, 09 April 2014

Yesterday I was supposed to drive to my parents and get a dozen crabs from my dad. Someone stole the crabs right out of the traps! So no crabs yesterday. Today my mom is going to be dropping off some crabs. I know it's at least half a dozen but she'll check and there might be more. So I'll have my crabs for dinner tonight at least. No one else in my house will eat crabs so mine all mine. I love my blue crabs.

I did a little giggle reading you were getting crabs from your dad, lol! They are delicious though.

I guess I didn't think about that. I giggled when I realized.

Crabs from Dad is funny (um, and kinda gross too - lol). I missed that because I was so busy being appalled that someone actually stole ya'lls food! You see, there I go thinking like a fat girl...It's all fun and games till somebody's food gets stolen, then I'm all ready to fight! That's another one of those things. Do skinny girls think like that? All righteously indignant when someone's food gets stolen?!?!?! I actually felt the little hairs stand on my neck as I read the words! The horror :O

I was really, really mad. Even when I was young and skinny I would have still gotten really, really mad. If I find them well my dad has a commercial fisherman's license so they could go to jail. He won't but it will still scare them.

skinny or fat, someone stole your protein! unacceptable! especially if you plan your meals

Agreed! Unacceptable! And I'm so glad to know I'm not alone in being upset! (Sidebar: When my oldest son was an infant, I nursed and pumped. Got up from the table one day and knocked over a full bottle of expressed milk! I let out a bloodcurdling scream as the liquid gold puddled on the table and trickled down to the floor -- of course, scaring everybody in the house and within a 5-mile radius. THAT is how it feels to lose your food when you are dieting!!)

I agree with you ladies, if someone steals my food, and I catch them, it's time to give them a taste of some Blackbelt skills, that will have them taking in their next meals through a straw. What kind of crabs were they?

Ooops! I just realized you said blue crabs. Though I'm a big fan of Alaskan king, and snow crab legs, I've never learned the proper technique to getting the most out of the blue crabs, so they just leave me frustrated, and I leave them alone.

Blue crabs are a big thing in my area. Love them! It is hard work making the pots (unless you buy them) and harder hauling them in day after day. Obviously, I know some people who used to do this for a living.

I'm in the fishing business (the tackle and rod side) and always have crab traps around. The cost on them isn't too bad since I'm a distributor. I had snow crabs last night (I still need to log them) but that was because Publix had them on sale last week. I might get more blue crabs tomorrow, I could have had them today but was at trader joes when my dad called. That would have been way too long in the car.
