I went out cross country skiing after I got home from work tonight. I ended up falling because it was so icy out there. I fell backwards on a hill and ended up twisting sideways where my poles wouldn't work. I fell on my left shoulder that was already tender. I thought I was going to pass out for about a half an hour after falling. So I stayed in my recliner, I have been icing my shoulder all night. Adult son cooked supper tonight. Came up with an easy just heat up meal for him to make. Now took a pain pill and hope that I can move it tomorrow. Soon will be bedtime for this banged up old person...

Stiff and sore...that is what I am today. Debating going into have the shoulder looked at. Raising my arm is very painful. Trying to find comfortable position at work so I can still work on the computer and not be in pain.

Went in to the doctor about my shoulder. They did xrays...nothing broken which means I pulled something. My hand was tingling so that is why I went in. He told me it was tingling because of swelling in my shoulder cutting off the nerves. His report was that I may need physical therapy. I should expect months of pain and recovery time...yeah...just what I need. I am to put it in a sling if it bothers me too much, which I did after coming home. That helped because then I wouldn't forget and raise up my arm where it really hurts. Lots of ice and ibuprophen in my future. Good news..Hubby's appointment with cardiologist finally set. It is in a MONTH... guess they are really not concerned about what is happening...

Glad you went to the doctor. Tho be careful wearing the sling too much as it could lead to a frozen shoulder. Not something to have at your young age, I had a good experience with shoulder physical therapy. Slept on my good shoulder with a pillow under the injured arm-lots of fun! Being an athlete is painful sometimes. Maybe a day off is in your future too!

I will just wear the sling at home if needed when I am tired towards the end of the day...or if my hand starts bothering again. I think if I keep up on the icing (3 to 4 times a day) and ibuprofen (4 per time x 4 times a day) slowly cutting back I should heal. I was offered a prescription pain med...I declined. I can call the doctor if I change my mind. It will take a while I know. I put a small pillow under my arm between me and hubs as I slept last night. Went to roll over and didn't work. Had to roll back to the pillow again. Guess I know the position I will sleep in for a while. Guess I will have to go back to walking instead for my exercise. Snow is melting fast around here finally.

Glad you went to they doctor. I broke mine and dropped they ball out of they socket two years ago. Had to sleep in the recliner with my arm on a pillow. PT will be good for you to keep it from freezing up. Hope your husbands Appt goes well.

Kay, I'm so sorry about your injury & pain! It's no fun I know. As a disabled person I always envy those who can run & jog for exercise. I hope the injury isn't too severe & that you will feel better very soon. Large doses of Ibuprofen can be very hard on your tummy, so you may want to take a couple of antacids once or twice a day too. Even if your tummy isn't upset it will protect it from irritation, plus add some calcium to your diet. Praying for you too. :)
