DairyKing's Journal, 11 February 2014

Slept in till 4 this morning. Went downstairs to meet with Jillian. Cardio-Strength-Abs; Cardio-Strength-Abs; Cardio-Strength-Abs. That's what I was supposed to be doing: 3 circuits of Cardio-Strength-Abs. Still struggling to make it through the entire 1st circuit. None of the excercises are particularly difficult for me: Jumping jacks, rope skipping, pushups, crunches, squats with weights, etc. It's just the pace, repititions and intensity. No rest for the wicked! Getting better though. Almost made it through the 1st circuit. Then did 1.5 miles on the treadmill at 3.0 mph pace. I know this video is going to help improve my stamina for running, but I can tell you, when you get done with one of her workouts, you feel like you did run a race! I do feel like I'm back in boot camp, "Yes Sir, Drill Sargeant, Yes Sir!"

Glued up some pen blanks last night. Will have to turn them on the lathe tonight, and hope everything goes well. Down to the wire. Auction is Saturday, and DW wants to go out to eat Friday evening, of course it being Valentines Day. That was the cause of part of my running around last night. Picked her up a necklace at the jewelers, and her meds at Walmart. What a combination! I'll share pics in a day or two of the pens that I'm putting up for auction.

I've been exceptionally good at controlling my intake, but that doesn't really surprise me. I'm always pretty good at this when I first start back up. I just have to keep reminding myself that this is a lifestyle change - not a race to the goal line. I've been down this road a number of times, and I think most of you will agree, that patience, or the lack of, is the real enemy in this weight loss/fitness journey. We all know that persistence and diligence will result in a pound or two weight loss per week. We usually see a pretty dramatic weight loss when we first start up, and then we experience those weeks where we may see little or none, or even a gain, and this causes frustration, depression, hopelessness, and despair, and that is when the enemy attacks - when we are most vulnerable. But, if we stick to our guns, in spite of what seems to be setbacks, we will see that the law of averages is still working in our favor over the long haul. Usually, when we give in, that's when we were most likely to see a breakthrough. So, my FS Friends, don't despair, don't try to eat the elephant in one bite. Have a long range goal in mind, but make short range goals that are achievable. But don't make the short range goals so short, in terms of time, that it doesn't allow for the fluctuations - causing you to perpetuate the cycles of despair and frustration that allows the enemy to attack and drive you to binging.

And that's all I have to say about that! Toodles!

I wanna see both :-) I have a friend in a woodturners club and visit them at the fair - it's incredible work and I have a feeling yours is every bit as stellar. Yep - one day, one meal at a time... that's all we can do.

Remember: patience, patience, patience! Yeah, FB, Jillian and I have been meeting for some time. We have a love/hate relationship. You know what they say, "You always hurt the one you love," and I have been in pain.

I wanna see them all .... :-) my DH and I have decided not to buy pressie or send cards, as we are off on hols next week..? And to be honest, I would rather spend the money on a good meal or something there. It's also my 65th, which is why we are going... So double whammy.... Really looking forward to getting away from this crap weather. I hope your wife loves the necklace ... You are so sweet :-). Keep at it with Jillian ... She will be your best friend in the end... And yes... It's the 'staying' power and patience that is important... It is a lifestyle change :-)

I hear you, Pam. Next month is even rougher. All the kids have birthdays in March, and DW's birthday is in March, and my birthday present to her in 1982 was me, so our anniversary is in March. An expensive month!

Haha, Buffy! We can't always get what we want, now can we? They say you never want to pray that God will give you patience, because you have to go through some very nasty stuff to get it.
