Chicken and Broccoli Braid
Beautiful braided crescent roll with chicken and broccoli.
Ingredients
Directions
- Pre-cook chicken in oven at 350 °F (175 °C) for 20 minutes. Dice chicken into cubes, should be 2-3 cups.
- Adjust oven to 375 °F (190 °C). In a large bowl, toss together chicken, broccoli, red bell pepper, garlic, mayonnaise, dill weed and salt.
- Unroll crescent roll dough, and arrange flat on a medium baking sheet. Pinch together perforations to form a single sheet of dough.
- Using a knife or scissors, cut 1" wide strips in towards the center, starting on the long sides. There should be a solid strip about 3" wide down the center, with the cut strips forming a fringe down each side.
- Spread the chicken mixture along the center strip. Spread cheese over the top of mixture (sharp cheddar cheese is also good).
- Fold the side strips over chicken mixture, alternating strips from each side. Pinch or twist to seal.
- Brush braided dough with the egg white, and press almond slivers gently into top of dough. Bake in the pre-heated oven 25 to 28 minutes, or until golden brown.

Sounds delish but shouldn't the crescent roll part be made from something else? I am diabetic and a carboholic. I need GOOD recipes that don't make me feel like I am missing something but don't include things I shouldn't eat.

this sounds delicious, however I think I may have to skip this idea at this time. The carbs are higher that I can afford at this time. I'm regulating my blood sugar issues at this time. But I may be willing to try it on family members.

So delicious! Next time, I'll be adding chopped onions & celery. I might try celery salt, garlic &/or basil as well. Substituting the mayo with cream of mushroom sounds good too. Oh the possibilities...

Very, very good. Thank you for sharing. I opted out on the salt, egg white, and almonds, garlic, and mayo. But, I did use cream of mushroom instead.
Yummy, Thank you again. We will be having lunches for the next few days :)

I loved this recipe! And whats even better, so did my husband! I was out of peppers, so I used some red onion instead. It tasted almost like chicken salad...one of my favorites! and the dough was quite buttery and rich tasting.

This recipe is great! I used it as a foundation for what I had in the fridge & built-on from there. I used spinach instead of broccoli & onions & basil instead of bell pepper & dill. I also used my own homemade sourdough that I make from scratch - it is less calories & better for you- you never get clogged-up- It turned out fantastic ! Now I have something Lovely to make with my sourdough instead of just the same old rolls & bread.
Thank You !!!

I used Whole Wheat Bread instead of the crescent rolls. It cam out not to bad. A little bland though.

Looks like the Chicken Bake they sell at Costco.

This looks very good, but it is 22 weight watcher points for 1 serving. That is way more than I am willing to eat for 1 serving. Too bad

It's a lower fat version of the original recipe! When I make it I don't use the recipe and usually forget the cheese or use fat free cheddar and skip the egg white, salt, and almonds. one of the only ways I can get my kids to eat their much needed veggies!
