I'm like the majority of working class society. I have a desk job that keeps my butt parked at a computer all day. At almost 40, I feel I'm doing "ok" but I know I need to get in shape. If the end of the world comes, I could run about 1/2 a mile before letting the locusts just have me...and that's with the wind at my back.

So with that not-so-happy thought I need to keep reminding myself that starting over (again and again) is way better than simply giving up. Here's to new beginnings! Starting yet again, Happy 2013, to eating better, being more active and overall being more generous in my life!

Hemochromatosis
Stay far away from cereals and pay close attention to anything "fortified" as in most cases they add measurable amounts of iron. Greens such as broccoli and spinach are a big no no also. Reducing the amount of salt in your diet may help as the typically treated table salt (iodized salt) helps support the body's absorbtion of iron which you don't need.

How Often Do you weigh yourself?
The first tip my Weight Watchers friend gave me was to only use my new scale once a week. I'm going to stick to mid-week, this helps encourage me to keep counting the calories and even if I don't lose much I'm not so close to my FREE DAY that I drown myself in every chocolate treat I see! As for time of day, I'd say early morning after waking...use the restroom first! Keep it simple, stick to one time per week...at least that way you look forward to stepping on the scale.
