I'm a 72 year old woman who had a recent hospitalization. I have congestive heart failure due to an aortic heart valve problem, and will soon have valve replacement surgery. I'll have to follow a doctor prescribed diet for now, 2000 mg salt limit. I have to weight in daily to see if I'm retaining fluids, so I might as well record them all here. your well wishes and prayers will be welcome!

Low Carb Diets - Do they work for everyone?
Some of us are far more sensitive to carbs than others. By that I mean: my husband became diabetic, but is able to manage it completely by avoiding sugar and foods with added sugar. When I became diabetic I followed his way, lost weight for only a short time, about a month or two, but without improving my blood glucose numbers. My doctor suggested I thoroughly study and try low carb dieting. He said it would not be easy. I studied it a lot. Now my blood glucose numbers are under control and I am losing weight steadily without being hungry. And I just plain feel better. Trying something a few weeks is not enough to change habits or learn a new way of buying foods and consuming them. It has to be a commitment.
