Very excited! For the first time today, I did some weight training at the gym. Usually I just do cardio on the treadmill. Today, the treadmills were full, so I went upstairs and did some of the weight machines. I had no clue what I was doing, so I am definitel going to invest in a small personal training package so I can at least get a plan together and learn how to use the machines. I followed that up with some time on this stair climber machine that kicked my butt, and then my reward time (dry sauna until I can barely breathe).
I feel great now - that awesome feeling after going to the gym - slight amount of pain, and knowing I'll definitley be tired enough to sleep tonight.

Super Bowl Sunday. I have decided that it will be added to the list of days, along with Christmas, New Year's Eve, Thanksgiving, and my birthday, when calories and stuff just SHOULDN'T count.
I did make at least a couple of good choices - I brought some healthier options (veggies and hummus + home made guacamole) for snacking, but I definitely hit the unhealthy stuff (cream cheese wontons are my weakness) pretty hard too. However - normally I would have had a LOT more booze, and I kept it to one beer and then stuck with club soda and lime. So I actually didn't go too overboard with my calories, which was good news.
Back to work today.

I've got to get back to the gym. These past couple of days have been so busy. Hopeful that I can make it tomorrow - will schedule my day around the workout rather than the other way around.
However, calorie intake is slowly decreasing. I would love to get to where I average around 1600 a day on weekdays/1800-2000 on weekends (plus increased exercise/activity), but we'll see. I may need to switch to smaller meals a few times a day. The only thing I can't really work around is dinner, because my husband likes to have a full Indian meal most nights of the week. However, he is supportive (needs to drop a few lbs himself) so we are eating much less of this good food and moving more toward the traditional foods of his childhood (simple dal dishes with vegetables, whole wheat roti and very little rice) which is leaving us both feeling a lot better in the evenings. When we first got married, I think we were both showing off with our cooking, and every night was either an elaborate Indian meal or a very heavy Italian/Tex Mex/Greek/etc. meal.
Anyway, I will keep fighting the good fight. I am resisting the urge to weigh in for a few more days. I've been working so hard - I think if I don't see a change in the number it will be pretty discouraging for me. I'm not seeing much of a difference in how I look just yet, or how my clothes fit (they're ALL tight, lol) so I doubt I have lost anything yet anyway.
Why the HECK was this weight so much easier to put on than it is to get it off???

Today I was unable to go to the gym due to schedule issues. I don't think I'll make it tomorrow either, so I will try to do a workout video on my Roku+Netflix combo in the morning before another crazy day. Had to deal with trying to track the calories/food items during a restaurant lunch today. Eating at home is so much easier, and oh my goodness do the calories add up when in a restaurant. It's going to take me some time to get used the correct portions and not eating stuff just because it is there or I feel like eating it. The really good thing that has happened since starting my...heightened awareness of what I am eating (not a diet!) is that I don't get that disgusting awful full feeling where I just want to go and put on stretch pants.
I think I'll use the calorie counter tool for at least six months or until I get to a weight I am happy with and feel that I can keep the portions under control.
