I am a 40-something married mom of one. I have been overweight as long as I can remember. I am currently hoping to drop 50# by this Christmas. I have tried several diets and find that I'm quite the non-conformist. I am currently following my own plan. Simple rules for healthy guidelines.
*at least 2 fruits/3 veggies per day
*little to no "white" foods, stick with whole grains
*keep calories between 1400 and 1600 per day
*try to keep net carbs under 50 per day
*drink 6-8 glasses of water per day
Many may see this as a diet similar to Weight Watchers. I believe in their solid foundations for balanced dieting, however, I find that my metabolism is not able to readily keep extra carbs from turning into fat. I also don't care for their greedy weekly fees and their "pay for everything" attitude with their tools and materials. I have lost weight on Atkins, but find the restricted nature of that plan is not realistic to maintain long term. I also found myself to be too tired and a bit queasy while on the first phase of that diet.
I am hoping this program works for me. Maybe by calling it my own, I was finally take ownership of my eating. Wish me luck!
