I am a 23 years old and currently live with my boyfriend of 5 years and his daughter. I work part time for a chiropractor, and spend my off days training for a 5K and watching sappy Lifetime movies or bad reality TV. I have struggled with weight issues most of my life. In fact, I have been on some kind of diet for as long as I can remember. I was in the best shape of my life my freshmen and sophomore years of high school when I swam competitively for the Varsity swim team and played water polo. Since then I gained over 50 pounds and became less and less happy with myself. The turning point came for me in October when I realized that it didn't take me a few months to gain over 50 pounds and it was going to take me more than a few months to lose 50+ pounds. Since October, I have been doing CrossFit three times a week, eating healthy (which I always loved and enjoyed, but I never ate the right portions), and running three times a week. In January 2012, I changed my training program and started doing the Couch to 5K program. I am signed up to run a local 5K in March. I also went from eating healthy to eating about 80-90% raw and "clean" food. I only do 80-90% because, as you can imagine, it isn't easy to afford that kind of life style on a part time budget. In addition to losing over 40 pounds and seeing a "1" in the first part of my weight for YEARS, I have gained confidence and direction. I am currently studying to take the GRE and apply to a Graduate School program to earn a Master's of Science in Nutrition and a personal training certificate.
