So far, so good...is really all I can say. I am taking it one day at a time. Really, that is all I can do, because this is truly a challenge for me. I watched a rerun of Oprah the other day and she had a weight loss expert who stated there are 6 things I MUST stay away from in order to lose weight. They included: 1.) No Soda 2.) No fried foods 3.) No transfats 4.) No white bread 5.) No high fat diary products and 6.) Regular Pasta. This was very informative, because I needed a "Do able" guide. So since that episode was watched, approx. 2 days ago, I have done just that. I have managed to add one more however....CARBS...which is without question, my weakness. I find it difficult to plan a menu. After my second job as a teacher, I previously stopped by a fast food resturant and it was nothing for me to get a three piece fried chicken meal from Bojangles or a hamburger meal from Wendy's or McDonalds. I have replaced that and found that many of the restuarants that I often frequented during lunch offer, grilled chicken salads with light italian dressing. I have found that my hunger seizes and I feel satisfied after eating them.
It has been cold, so although I walked the first day, I have managed to find time to dance to my favorite old school songs. Its fun and I break a sweat. I only do it for 30 minutes, but in time I know that will increase.
My second job presents a weakness because I stay there overnight. When all is silent and I am alone, previously I would find myself in the refrigerator....really eating leftovers...often a full course mean AGAIN at 10pm at night... AWFUL! Now, when I am hungry,I eat yogurt...the key lime pie yogurt is AWESOME! As an alternative, I may eat a small bowl of cereal with 2% milk, and fat free cereal....(Important for ME to note...I do not drink the milk once the cereal is gone.)
All in all, I feel proud of myself. I fought weighing myself today because I decided to only weigh myself every 7 days. Don't want to get discouraged.
Today is a good day!

Today, I walked for 30 minutes, which is amazing for me. It actually felt good. I have decided not to eat fried foods, drink plenty of water, and very few carbs. I am going to try my best to try to stay away from red meat. I had no idea that black eyed peas had plenty of carbs, so no more of that. I am proud of myself because I am following my own plan. My only challenge is not eating at night. Tonight will be my first test.

Today is the eve of a New Year. I find myself to be tired while doing simple tasks. I feel unhealthy and very concerned about a family history of cancer, diabetes and high blood pressure. On tomorrow, New Years Day, I plan to begin loving myself and proving it. My goal this year is to lose 50lbs, but Lord knows I would be grateful for more. My weaknesses are eating late and not being focused enough to even walk at least a mile a day. I must be the change I seek....beginning 2012.
