24 June 2023
Had a nice rain yesterday evening. Today I harvested cucumbers, kale, swiss chard, some onions, romaine lettuce, a few cherry tomatoes. Pulled a few weeds, but mostly the garden is cleaned up. I cooked the kale, swiss chard and onions together with some bacon to go with my garden salad of fresh romaine, tomatoes, and cucumber for lunch. Finished off the salad with ranch dressing and cottage cheese. Tried out Dr. Gundry's Coconut almond flour mug muffin, with blueberries for dessert. Cooking up the rest of my harvest with cabbage, broccoli, and a chicken thigh for a soup supper, and will put the planned overs in the freezer for later.
I am going to try to stick to Dr. Gundry's 30 day plan, starting next Monday. It won't be strictly lectin free because I have a garden that has plants with lectins and I am certainly not going to waste them. I will stick as closely to the plan as I can. So hopefully I can reset my eating somewhat and drop a few more pounds. There is a family reunion coming up in the middle of July, so I may go off plan for a few days there. There is never a perfect time to follow a 30 day plan.

I weeded the garden before it got hot today, even before breakfast. Picked a few beans and tomatoes. Found squash bugs had killed my best zuchinni overnight. Planted a few honey dew melons and watermelons. Pulled my onions and left to dry in the garden.
Breakfast was bullet proof coffee, peanut butter on rice cake, cheese stick. Lunch was garden salad with leaf lettuce, German cucumber salad, cottage cheese, boiled egg, and fresh peach, sprinkled with paprika. Planning protein smoothie for supper.
Resting now, looking for energy to clean house, prepare sister's room for her visit in two weeks.

I found a Cracker Barrell meal I love for my WOE: grilled chicken tenders with turnip greens and broccoli. I ate half and took the rest home for supper. Must confess I did eat one of the biscuits and an ice cream sandwich in the afternoon. And enjoyed it!
We have been having rain so no walking or gardening going on right now. Will do arm exercises with weights this evening. My brain is still on vacation, so I need to get geared up for gardening and walking soon.

I'm working on the 2 lbs gained on the cruise. It's dropping! Garden in serious trouble after 10 day neglect, Have spent 2 days on weeding. I have a few green beans producing and cucumbers are 2 inches long. Zucchini will be ready to harvest soon. I have 6 cabbages ready to cut. I made keto coleslaw. Kale and Swiss chard were so big I thought they would be tough and bitter, but they were delicious cooked with chicken boullion, coconut oil, and bacon. Have lots of promising veggies, so I should eat well for WOE; just need to stay away from sweets.

Back from the cruise! I tried to eat carefully, but still am up 2 lbs. That is better than it could have been. I will be very careful this week and maybe I can bring those lbs back down. Had a lovely cruise with grandaughter who just graduated from high school. We cruised Inside Passage to Alaska and then visited family in Seattle area. Special memories for all of us. I will be 81 June 12 and found it hard to keep up with granddaughter -- but I kept on trying. Many extra footsteps during those days helped keep down the weight gain!
