Sundays are always a challenge for me because we all eat lunch together and the dessert table shouts at me. Today I did not give in to the call! I stuck to my 100 sugars fairly close, eating 114 sugars if I go by net carbs and 151 if I go by just carbs. I will have to go back to my book to see which I am supposed to use. Fasting blood sugar this morning was 115. Working at getting down to 100 even!

I am finally near the end of my bronchitis. It took the whole month of December and tired me out with the coughing. I finally got an antibiotic and some other medicine to clear it. I was glad to know the tests showed no co-vid, no RSV, and no flu!

I have started my indoor garden with romaine lettuce and some herbs -sage, parsley, rosemary & thyme. I have planted the roots cut from green onions also -- will see how successful that is. My fall outdoor garden was a bust: one of the cows got out and ate everything! I was not happy about that!

I have finally found the method that works for me. It is easy, it drops weight fast, and brings down the fasting blood sugar quickly. And I am not hungry! I'm just on my 5th day but I have lost 3 lbs. I got up to 165 lbs over the holidays with average blood sugar of 150. I started this WOE on January 1. So how does this miracle program work for me? It is as simple as taking the total amount of carbs, multiply by 4 to get the equivalent amount of sugar points. Try to keep the total sugar points at 100 or less per day. I have actually lost even on days when the total sugar is 148, but am trying to keep it close to 100.This program was proposed by Jorge Cruise in his book "The 100" published in 2013. One of my resolutions was to weed out my cookbooks/diet books -- I must have a hundred gathered over the last 50 years of trying to find what works for me. I found this book on my shelves and thought it sounded worth a try. It fits with Keto and Intermittent fasting but all I'm doing is keeping the carbs (sugars) close to 100. On the second day my blood sugar had dropped to 78 at bedtime and I ate 5 Herseys kisses. The next morning my blood sugar was 115 and I still weighed 1/2 pound less. I'm not worrying about exercise although I find I have lots more energy -- nice since I'm 81. Will this work for you? We are all different, so who knows, but I will keep on keeping on with it.

Cataract surgery went fine on Thursday -- no need to be as nervous as I was. Already see much clearer. Colors are brighter and sharper. I can read some things without my glasses now. That was an unexpected benefit since I have astigmatism and have always had to correct for that. I chose not to have it corrected with the surgery -- more economical, as well as the fact that after wearing glasses for some 65 years, I'd feel undressed without them. A real drawback to seeing better is when I look in the mirror and see a wrinkled old lady looking back at me. I wonder who she is!

Getting my appetite back in control, back down to 164 and hope to drop that a little more by being careful today. Had a delicious mocha PB2 breakfast smoothie.

Still no rain, almost 30 days now, but temps have dropped into the 90s. Hoping to garden again, once the eye surgery is healed. Huge cracks in ground from our drought and soil in my garden feels really dead.
