I'm a game developer (traditionally not the most active of people) and I've just hit 40. About a decade ago, I found myself on my own, overweight, and miserable.

Well, talk about full circle. The difference is that I'm not alone or miserable, I'm happily married with three step-children and a great career, but I am overweight again. Talk about living in the land of plenty!

So I decided that as I round my 4th decade, I'm going to take charge of my life and get in shape again. My self-esteem has taken some serious hits over the past few years and I'm tired of feeling crappy about myself, tired of 'avoiding' having my picture taken, and tired of feeling so out of control over what I put in my mouth. I'm a cute girl, I need to feel it again!

So rather than doing what I normally do, diet NOT exercise or exercise NOT diet, I'm trying something utterly new for me. You may have heard of it: diet AND exercise.

I do truly believe that the measure of a person is on the inside, that God loves us no matter what we weigh, but I also believe that sometimes we need to help ourselves with our own self-image and to break free from the crutch and vice that food can easily become.

God help me, I'm gonna give it a go.

Recipe for Dairy-Free/Sugar-Free Cheesecake?

I have a perfectly lovely recipe for regular cheesecake in all its gastronomic (and calorie-laden) glory, but I'm making a cheesecake for a friend and he can't have either Sugar or Dairy. (Yes, it makes things tough.)

I have discovered the joys of Tofutti so I know all about Better Than... I'm just not sure how it adds up when comparing apples to apples against a regular cheesecake recipe so I'm stumped.

Any (as Rachel Ray would say) "delish" recipes you ladies (and gentlemen!) have for something like this, I would love to know about! Thanks for your time!
