Quitting Smoking and drinking's effect on weight loss
Everyone is different. But when I say withdrawals I don't mean YOU CRAVE A SMOKE - in my case I stuggled a bit the from day 4 - 6 with serious cravings but after that i had the irritation symptoms, headaches, insomnia, etc, but i wasnt pining for a cigarette.
Do yourself a favor and read the "Easyway to stop smoking - by Allen Carr" www.allencarr.com
With his method you don't crave the cigarette for too long, although the withdrawal symptoms are inevitable because for example the headaches are caused by extra oxygen entering your brain, and not because you crave a cigarette. He explains everything perfecty.

Quitting Smoking and drinking's effect on weight loss
Hey Michelleburk...
I went cold turkey - and believe met the first month was no picnic (ask my boyfriend). This time I had literally 90% of all the possible symptoms whereas on previous quit attempts i had only 10%. I smoked for 15 years, 1 pack a day, (2 packs per day on weekends).
They say, never stop trying to quit, because with each try, you get closer to the final victory - and this time I can confidently say that I will never smoke again - especially not after all the experience I have by now and the last round of withdrawl symptoms.

Quitting Smoking and drinking's effect on weight loss
Thanx WeaysS.
You see the problem is (and believe me I've done the research but I'm no expert) that people don't realise that when you smoke you feed your body poisons that keeps your body from performing at its best. (which also includes your metabolism) Therefore by smoking your heart is beating +-10,000 beats faster each day resulting in the extra calories burned (I mean, really? it worries me that I was willing to damage my heart that way just because i was scared of gaining 2 lousy kilo's).
BUT what i did not realise is the fact that my poor poisoned body is now battling so many other problems becaus of all the toxins.

I'm actually doing a study on my own experience and will post regularly for anyone else interested. But I think that (just like many other people say) it's worth gaining a bit of extra weight because it's only temporary. Thats IF you don't replace it with food and believe me food tatest wonderful - even a raw carrot - my newest craving. I did get stuck with crisps and chocolate for a week or so, but realised that I was going to end up like the many unhappy ex smokers who've gained weight. So i did something about it.

Good luck to you WeasyS.

Quitting Smoking and drinking's effect on weight loss
I quit smoking 6 weeks ago, and then i quit drinking 8 days ago. Quitting smoking means my body burned less calories which is fine because it was only 2kg. At least i'm healthier and now my body will repair and get back to a state where everything works normal and better to burn fat efficiently.

I calculated my alcohol calories - around 22,000 calories per month -

Anyway - I thought the quitting drinking alcohol would at least make me lose weight fast but seems like it was only the first week that I battled and now from today (day Cool I'm finally starting to drop weight - most probably water weight.

I walk every morning 20 minutes, and afternoon 20 minutes to speed up my metabolism. (I'm very unfit, so I only manage to run 3 times during the 20 minutes for 1 minute or so.

If You also quit smoking and drinking almost at the same time - I would love to hear from you.
