4th's Journal, 08 January 2018

I haven't been active here in almost four months. I was slipping into a sort of depression and complacency. I choose differently. I am not and will not accept further excuses. "I'm tired," "I don't want to," "It would be easier if..." and "I'm not hungry, but..." are not in my vocabulary.

I have been making keto foods for a friend. While I have been eating whatever I desired, he's lost an average of 13lbs a month on my cooking! I can have that, too!

I did not look forward to getting on the scale. I was 279.5 and now I'm 281.8; just over two pounds. That isn't going to happen again. Immediately after work I'm going to start walking an hour, and eventually switch to swimming when I've built up a little endurance. The thought of being healthy fills me with determination.
286.8 lb Lost so far: 38.2 lb.    Still to go: 159.8 lb.    Diet followed poorly.

2 lbs in 4 months - you've not been overdoing it by very much then. You're back that's what matters.

Wannabhealthier has a great suggestion! Blessings upon your new determination. (On days you're not up for that hour walk, just promise yourself to do just 5. Or 10.)

Please don't beat yourself up. We all struggle to live better, and everyone will experience setbacks. Adopting healthier habits can be challenging, for anyone. Instead of getting angry and frustrated and setting huge goals to reverse undesired results, I recommend committing to smaller goals, then pushing through a little bit farther when you reach it. For example, instead of committing to a one hour walk, which may not be typical, tell yourself you will do 10 minutes, and if you feel better after the 10 minutes, keep going. You may surprise yourself and go even longer than an hour, but psychologically you have trained yourself to achieve the original goal of 10 minutes. I promise, this technique will make you feel pretty positive about everything you do.

I feel like anyone who got through the holidays without gaining 10 pounds is actually doing pretty good! So you are in a good spot to get back on track and a good place on FS to get whatever support you need.
