JockoT's Journal, 05 January 2018

Disappointing number. Apart from New Year's day I have stuck to my counting calories. I am up a pound today, from yesterday (typical on weigh in day), but I have been constipated since going back to calorie counting, so that might account for the rise. Back on Laxido I'm afraid.

I've found eating All Bran every morning does the trick. I have it with a chopped up banana and really enjoy it.

A good trick is All Bran with nuts;raisins and honey soaked in milk overnight in a container in the fridge.Have that for breakfast. It will clear you out in 4 hours max.Without laxatives.Plenty of water in the meantime. Worked well for me.

I haven't had any problems for a long time, just since I restarted my calorie counting! I try to avoid All Bran at the moment, because, though it is high in fibre, it is also a source of carbs. I drink tons (though not always water).

Have you tried Fybogel or Holland & Barrett's Colon Care supplement? Both have ground Psyllium husk which when taken with plenty of water help with constipation after a day or two. The H&B is pretty good for low carb baking too where the recipe calls for ground psyllium husk. All the best!

Happy New Year, Amanda. Don't know if a wee malt would help or not. Got some nice whiskies for Christmas but I am not opening them until I lose a stone from my Boxing Day weigh in!

Metamucuil. polyethylene glycol 3350. Once per day with plenty of water or in some other beverage.

using an unneeded laxative is on par with bulimia. I have done it before. it works but it's not healthy.

Make the effort to drink lots of water. Not always easy to do but could be the solution.

I had a HUGE bowl of All Bran this morning, as still nothing is moving. The Laxido that I take is prescribed by my doctor, as constipation has been an ongoing issue, exacerbated by dieting.

I'm sure the All Bran will work Jocko - just remember that it may take a couple more days of eating it to work properly and don't forget to keep up your fluid intake, which is a must with fibre. Have a great Saturday.

Some of us, as we get older, and may take more medication, have things slow down. Sorry I didn’t preface my comment with more explanation for Jocko about the laxative, but I made the assumption that he was an older adult with a semi serious uncomfortable condition and wasn’t going to misuse over-the-counter medication. That may have been a blunder on my part? But since it sound like his doctors prescribe him something similar (this can be prescribed as well here in the States) I can probably be excused for thinking he might want some relief and might not be looking to just slough weight. Maybe I’m naive in thinking that bulimia doesn’t affect older people as often but since most of us are concerned about our health, it seems counterproductive to sabotage it by taking on bulimic attitudes.

LOL I just checked out the Laxido ingredients online Jocko! Bingo! Same thing I was suggesting that I take myself! Polyethylene glycol 3350 is the active ingredient. Make sure you drink plenty of water with it. It needs it to work on the source of the problem! LOL 🙋🏻
