warrenwinter's Journal, 11 October 2016

Wow, I slept in today, but was awakened to one VERY ANGRY wife. She left for work at 5:30 a.m., and is still on the freeway. She could have driven to Vegas again in 3 1/2 hours. It's 210 miles to Vegas from here. She hasn't gotten 30 miles in 3 1/2 hours. I have never heard her so angry. Our marriage dynamics are not real good, right now. I stay at home. She works, but puts her check in retirement, of course, and I pay most the bills. At least my scale had good news for me. It is gorgeous, today. Have a great day!
HERE IS THE FIERY CRASH THAT HAPPENED AT 3:45 IN THE MORNING, WITH MULTIPLE FATALITIES!

260.0 lb Lost so far: 10.0 lb.    Still to go: 0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

Yikes - is that what backed up her traffic? Driving in California is a cluster on a good day...anger is a wasted emotion.

That was it, HCB! They closed the freeway south for almost 5 hours. The guy who caused the accident got away, and one dead four critically injured.

Not good - the guy may have had no insurance or under the influence? Great loss by the way!

HCB, I am going to take this as a lesson to SLOW DOWN. It is not unusual to have people driving over a 100 mph, that late at night. Amazing that many involved, that late at night. They said six cars involved.

Great loss, Warren. Horrible accident, they'll get the guy I have no doubt. When I worked for the Navy in San Diego I used to leave my place at 4 or 4:15 AM but was lucky because I didn't have to get on the big interstates for most of the ride.

Philly, I would leave for work at between 4:30 to 5:00 a.m. to beat traffic. I did that for many years. Traffic here is the WORST I have ever seen, right now. Cheap gas and a better economy has made it gridlock here, and it doesn't matter, if it is during the week or weekends. It is TERRIBLE!

By the way, my loss was a missed guess from being piggish in Vegas. I am happy though! Happy TACO TUESDAY! Love my tacos!

Shocking accident! Those poor people, all from one selfish person 😡😡 Hardly feels right to say but "Great loss, Warren". And give the wife a hug ... She might have been in it, not caught behind it 😔

Nice loss Warren...do you plan to eat clean for the rest of the week b4 surgery? You'll wake up happier and bounce back quicker with nutrients in your system instead of carbs. BTW, I struggled with my commute the last year before I retired. As employment rises, so does the traffic. It's nerve wracking. Your stuck, you can't go anywhere. Someone should figure out how to bring coffee out into those traffic jams. Have a fun Taco Tuesday ol' buddy....

Thanks Sarah! Well, we brought back a lot of great Italian food from Vegas. I am feeling good, and I believe I'm in pretty good shape. I was working out very hard, and I think I should be good for the surgery. I would like to lose 5 more pounds before the surgery. We have been stuck in traffic close downs going to Vegas too. Everyone gets out of their cars and take breaks, and crack out food. lol Have a great day, Sarah!

Phooka, thanks! Sad, I bet it was a young kid, and some of the victims were older. They love to race on the freeway, and their cars are often junky, and don't handle on the road well. It's awful, when fire is involved. I actually have some experience as a volunteer fireman. I remember, one time, I ran to the firehouse alarm in shorts, and it proved to be a bad fire, and the heat gets frightening. My boots got so hot from flames it was burning my legs inside the high boots. Had huge flames and electric lines over my head. I could hear the electricity snapping, and the flames got very intense. It was a huge apartment building that burned up in flames. I got REAL lucky.
