Under 160 at weigh in, woohoo!! It had been fluctuating throughout the week, but I only log my Monday weigh-ins. So happy to see my hard work pay off! Sometimes it's hard to stay focused and eat right when I'm around my family, but these last few months I have been determined not to stray from my way of eating, and it has definitely paid off. Hope everyone has a great Monday!

That's great on both counts, your weight and resisting the temptations from family situations.

That's great! Make it your goal to resist unsupportive family members! 20lbs ago, upon my refusal to eat cake at a party, my mother said "You should have thought that before you got fat!" My husband constantly bakes cakes, brownies, and drinks sweet tea around me! Now it's a game for me to see how long I can resist his temptations! I want this more than he does!

Thanks all! The hardest part of last week was when we went to Longhorn Steakhouse. They give you "the bread" and it smelled soooo amazing! We all know about that restaurant bread. The stuff they place at the table that you fill up on before dinner arrives. The stuff that is so fresh and warm and buttery that you simply can't resist. Well, not this girl! I resisted its alluring aroma and didn't eat one crumb (although having a gluten allergy also helps me refrain). I just breathed it in, and ate my salad :-)

@areli, My family used to be the same way. It wasn't until I was diagnosed with a food allergy that they finally started being supportive. Can't believe your mother said that though, that's harsh! The fact that your husband bakes is pretty awesome, it's a shame you can't enjoy... Not sure what diet you maintain, but there's a site called joyfilledeats.com, and all her recipes are gluten and sugar free, and somewhat low carb. Maybe you and your husband could find some recipes that work for you that you both could enjoy?

Great loss and poster Jess! Isn't it funny how your family does not support your eating choices when you are simply trying to improve yourself, but the minute you have a diagnosed health condition that affects your eating, they are full of concern and support. That particular scenario fascinates and mystifies me.

Yep, mystifies me too, Debra... But I definitely use it to my advantage. It's easier to say that I "can't" have a certain food, rather than I "won't" have it... At least I don't have to go into a lengthy discussion defending my food choices. I will never understand that about people. Just because they eat that junk doesn't mean I have to!

I am going to be at 160 again someday this year. Congrats Jess. I hate defending what I eat to co-workers or to people who don't know me personally. For instance, I don't drink any alcohol and of course these people are always questioning me why not. I just don't find it healthy. They can't accept that answer. One even asked if I was a recovering alcoholic. I also have to defend my low animal protein intake. That's related to health reasons and then these same people will ask "Well, what's wrong with you?" I hate having to explain every food decision I make to strangers or co-workers.

Nice job on the weight loss! Thanks for the inspirational post - I wrote down that affirmation so that the next time I am tempted I can read it in my journal!

@ Engeland- It's amazing what people will say! I would never ask someone personal questions like that. Personally, I think it's rude. I figure if they're not partaking, they have their reasons. But if they (or I) am willing to share those reasons, I will happily have a nonjudgmental conversation with them :) @ Shelly- Thanks! I really like that one too. I wish I could blow it up and stick it on the fridge!
