horridzombie's Journal, 11 March 2022

One of my original goals was for my wedding rings to fit again because they had become uncomfortably snug. Well, I reached that goal a few months ago and couldn't have been happier. Lately, however, I've noticed that they've become quite loose. They would start to slide off when I washed my hands, used sanitizer, put on lotion, etc. Yesterday, I threw my dogs ball, and the rings flew off my finger! This is so bizarre and unexpected because I've always had chubby fingers, even as a scrawny kid, and I'm still 20 lbs heavier than when I first got married. Either the bands stretched over time, or perhaps fingers naturally become slimmer as you age?

ditto, well they didn't fly off.....yet. I had to use a smaller ring and put on to hold the wedding rings in place, so far so good, I'd rather not resize them just yet;)

I bought some ring adjusters off Amazon as a temporary fix.

I agree Erq. My fingers got slimmer but my knuckles got bigger!

My fingers have gotten slimmer as I age (early 40’s). I’ve noticed it a lot in my older relatives (70-99 years old).

Woo Hoo! That's a great "non-scale" victory! (NSV)

That is awesome! That’s one of my goals too and I can fit 2 of the 3 rings back on now. Maybe inflammation is down for you which could be why they are so unexpectedly loose? I know for me I have swelling and joint pain when inflammation is high, which is when my weight is up.

Well, the rings definitely did not get bigger. I think perhaps our weight redistributes itself as we age. Congratulations on the loss, be very careful not to lose those rings!

Not only have my knuckles gotten bigger in old age but a couple of my fingers are going funny directions.

When you lose weight your fingers get thinner too! Mine did as well. And me feet 👣 also got skinnier! Weird but true.

I have a friend who is a jeweler and he told me that 14 pound’s lost ( or gained) is a ring size. So You probably should wait to have your rings size until you reach your weight goal.

Thanks yall! I was just confused, idk I guess I was expecting my proportions to be the same as they were years ago at the same weight. Definitely going to hold off to have them professionally resized. The kit I bought from Amazon has little plastic thingies to temporarily resize.
