Debbie Cousins's Journal, 13 August 2021

Thanks for the great show of support, everybody. I'm surprised that my weight hasn't gone even higher than it has - I've eaten a whole LOAF of Dave's Killer Bread since Tuesday. Having 4-6 slices of toast with butter every day lately. I just bought another loaf today!

I DID wash my hair today - hadn't done that in almost two weeks. Some friends invited us out to lunch, which is a very rare treat, so I figured I ought to make an effort to look presentable.

True confessions:

1. I haven't actually taken a shower in over two months.

2. My hair has been falling out quite dramatically over the past several weeks - probably a side effect of the extended fast.

THERE! Now you know. Might need to check in with my psychiatrist and see about getting my meds adjusted, and possibly check in with my family doctor about getting some kind of nutritional supplements.
210.2 lb Lost so far: 48.8 lb.    Still to go: 60.2 lb.    Diet followed poorly.
gaining 2.3 lb a week

I had hair loss from a prescibed med. I don't remember the name of it. Yours could be a side effec frm meds.

I'm glad you are feeling like making the effort to reach out. We're here for you in our limited capacity as an ear, a shoulder, and occasionally a kick in the pants! Please do verify that you are getting the proper supplements. You may need to see a nutritionist, as most GP's don't run full blood panels as part of you general check ups. Hell even my Oncologist didn't run full blood panels as far as nutrition was concerned. I may bitch about all the pills I take on a daily basis but the majority of them are vitamins and supplements. I fully attribute my general good health to having maintained taking these despite the expense.

Hair loss is definitely a symptom of very rapid weight loss, especially for women. Eat a healthy whole foods diet, cut out the junk (and diet coke!), get plenty of veggies and high protein and your hair will grow back. It's alarming and definitely associated with too rapid weight loss, but once you eat a balanced healthy diet based of highly nutritious foods, you'll balance out and it will regrow. Taking a multivitamin can't hurt. It happened to me once from very aggressive dieting.

Hair loss...possibly severe iron deficiency. Beware of health issues that work in the background, giving no alarming signs until they get advanced, such as osteoporosis, thyroid, blood pressure, blood sugar, atherosclerosis etc.

I too have hair loss, mine is from Hashimotos. I put collegan powder in my coffee everyday and it helps alot! Plus it has made a big difference in my skin! For anyone using it, just make sure to read ingredients and make sure it's made and processed in the USA.

Oh Debbie, take your shower!! 💦 It makes you feel better and if both my grandpa and dad did it daily at 92, you can do it!👍 I care about you and that gives you a better life period, I want you to feel good about yourself!💕 Everyday there are so many challenges to get through, don’t settle for less than you deserve! People often say that motivation doesn’t last. Well, neither does bathing – that’s why we recommend it daily.❤️😁 Have a Spectacular Saturday Debbie and remember honest criticism is hard to take, particularly from a relative, a friend, an acquaintance, or a stranger.😆❣️

I realize this site is to encourage others even when they fail. However, this person consistently posts very unhealthy and destructive ideas to those who may be vunerable. Binging, fasting, binging, complaining with a "who cares today" attitude and others are coddling her and encouraging this behavior. It almost seems to be more of an attention seeking strategy on their part. Sad...
