Only 2100 calories (riiiiight...) Almond crusted french toast, fried red potatoes with hollandaise, biscuits and gravy, some scrambled eggs, and an iced coffee. THIS is how we breakfast for the gym! (I just had new floors installed and now the dog always sits there as I prepare my meals lol)

Have you tried GOMAD? You seem like a decent candidate...

She always gets to lick plates 😊

I'd done GOMAD when I was pansy-lifting awhile back... it was as a 3-month break from keto and it just made me gassy, bloated, and fat. That was before I truly understood the dynamics of how to track and apply CICO properly.

Now that I'm accurately measuring intake and output, I enjoy the variety of food too much. I may add in 1/2 gallon of whole milk for the caloric bump someday though.

I have that same scale lol

Like Mermee, seeing these huge meals makes me feel less weird for my 2k+ daily diet. Dainty is right.

Lol I thought you meant only 2,100 for the DAY. I thought I ate so much, because 2,100 for a DAY is light for me lol! If I ate that, I would fall asleep during the day for quite some time! Do you work out for eight hours a day or something?
12 Jul 21 by member: NewNameNewMe
|
And lol LaughingChevre, same! And even if that was my full day of eating, it would be the right calorie goal, maybe even not enough on a very active day--but the wrong foods! Therefore, I would still fall fast asleep!

NewName, I usually keep quiet about how much I eat these days because people who aren't very active just don't get it. Like you my needs can be well over 2000 some days.

Abbagail - judging by the ratings on Amazon (10k+), I think everyone has this Ozeri scale lol. Mine is 5 years old and the plastic on the buttons is worn off and I've only just replaced the batteries. They are workhorses for sure!

Merms - like I said, the dog gets to lick the plate. I don't share my precious calories 😜

LC and NewNameTLDR - 3900 calories in because my day is busy and I'll kill off about 3900 calories before bed tonight. That's just how it goes somedays.

If you don't lick the plate yourself you're leaving gains on the table...I mean plate. smh

Bandrai - Carbing up beforehand spikes the blood sugar which gives you a ton of readily-available energy to plow through a quick workout. Though the goal of a workout is to breakdown muscle tissue, it's good to have some protein floating around in your system to get the repair process started, so yes, get a little in before too. Post-workout should always consist of protein (to repair the muscle you've damaged by lifting) and carbs to replenish energy/stop the breakdown of muscle (an alternate food source so your body doesn't "catabolize" -or, "eat" its own muscles when sugars aren't available).

I stack most of my calories around my workouts (personal preference). Some lift in a fasted state, but I need the energy to move all the big weights around and push myself to the limit. Without food, I get sleepy after about 30 minutes. With food, however, if I don't get to the gym stat, I'll pass out on the couch for sure lol.

That's all about lifting. As far as cardio, I used to drink some sugary soda or juice and something light for fuel (I can't stand running or plyometrics on a full stomach 🤮). It really depends on your goals. There's no magical way to "time" your meals to lose weight. If I need energy, I eat then workout. If I need to sleep, I eat big then too. The rest of the day is just an I.V. drip of calories and protein.
